48 results for weighted orbifold

In this note, we explain that Ross-Thomas' result on the weighted Bergman kernels on orbifolds can be directly deduced from our previous result. This result plays an important role in the companion paper to prove an orbifold version of Donaldson Theorem.

Hypertoric varieties are hyperkähler analogues of toric varieties, and are constructed as abelian hyperkähler quotients of a quaternionic affine space. Just as symplectic toric orbifolds are determined by labelled polytopes, orbifold hypertoric varieties are intimately related to the combinatorics of hyperplane arrange…

Which properties of an orbifold can we ``hear,'' i.e., which topological and geometric properties of an orbifold are determined by its Laplace spectrum? We consider this question for a class of four-dimensional Kähler orbifolds: weighted projective planes $M:=\C P^2(N_1,N_2,N_3)$ with three isolated singularities. We s…

We present generating functions for extensions of multiplicative invariants of wreath symmetric products of orbifolds presented as the quotient by the locally free action of a compact, connected Lie group in terms of orbifold sector decompositions. We study Deraux's non arithmetic orbifold ball quotient surfaces obtained as birational transformations of a quotient XX of a particular Abelian surface AA. Using the fact that AA is the Jacobian of the Bolza genus 22 curve, we identify XX as the weighted projective plane P(1,3,8)\mathbb{P}(1,3,8). We compute the equati…

In [3] Borzellino and Brunsden started to develop an elementary differential topology theory for orbifolds. In this paper we carry on their project by defining a mapping degree for proper maps between orbifolds, which counts preimages of regular values with appropriate weights. We show that the mapping degree satisfies…

We find new examples of compact Spin(7)-manifolds using a construction of Joyce. The essential ingredient in Joyce's construction is a Calabi-Yau 4-orbifold with particular singularities admitting an antiholomorphic involution, which fixes the singularities. We prove inverse spectral results for differential operators on manifolds and orbifolds invariant under a torus action. These inverse spectral results involve the asymptotic equivariant spectrum, which is the spectrum itself together with "very large" weights of the torus action on eigenspaces. More precisely, we show …

We construct the first examples of families of bad Riemannian orbifolds which are isospectral with respect to the Laplacian but not isometric. In our case these are particular fixed weighted projective spaces equipped with isospectral metrics obtained by a generalization of Schüth's version of the torus method.

An index theorem for the anti-self-dual deformation complex on anti-self-dual orbifolds with cyclic quotient singularities is proved. We present two applications of this theorem. We present explicit constructions of complete Ricci-flat Kahler metrics that are asymptotic to cones over non-regular Sasaki-Einstein manifolds. In this second article, we prove that any desingularization in the Gromov-Hausdorff sense of an Einstein orbifold is the result of a gluing-perturbation procedure that we develop.
