We propose unitary group convolutions (UGConvs), a building block for CNNs which compose a group convolution with unitary transforms in feature space to learn a richer set of representations than group convolution alone. UGConvs generalize two disparate ideas in CNN architecture, channel shuffling (i.e. ShuffleNet) and…
The large-N limit of Segal-Bargmann transform on spheres is studied.
Recurrent neural networks (RNNs) have been successfully used on a wide range of sequential data problems. A well known difficulty in using RNNs is the \textit{vanishing or exploding gradient} problem. Recently, there have been several different RNN architectures that try to mitigate this issue by maintaining an orthogo…
Paper improves tensor completion by reducing sample entries needed.
In this paper, we study robust tensor completion by using transformed tensor singular value decomposition (SVD), which employs unitary transform matrices instead of discrete Fourier transform matrix that is used in the traditional tensor SVD. The main motivation is that a lower tubal rank tensor can be obtained by usin…
We systematically develop a transform of the Fourier-Mukai type for sheaves on symplectic manifolds of any dimension fibred in Lagrangian tori. One obtains a bijective correspondence between unitary local systems supported on Lagrangian submanifolds of and holomorphic vector bundles with compatible unitary conn…

Bayesian quadrature improves integration efficiency with invariant priors.
In this second part of the `essay on the completion of quantum theory' we define the {\em unitary setting of completed quantum mechanics}, by adding as intrinsic data to those from Part I (arXiv:1711.08643) the choice of a north pole N and south pole S in the geometric space. Then we explain that, in the unitary settin…
Topological quantum computation with Fibonacci anyons relies on the possibility of efficiently generating unitary transformations upon pseudoparticles braiding. The crucial fact that such set of braids has a dense image in the unitary operations space is well known; in addition, the Solovay-Kitaev algorithm allows to a…
With the usual definition of a super Hilbert space and a super unitary representation, it is easy to show that there are lots of super Lie groups for which the left-regular representation is not super unitary. I will argue that weakening the definition of a super Hilbert space (by allowing the super scalar product to b…
Mackey showed that for a compact Lie group , the pair has a unique non-trivial irreducible covariant pair of representations. We study the relevance of this result to the unitary equivalence of quantizations for an infinite-dimensional family of invariant polarizations on . The …

We construct a Fourier--Mukai transform for smooth complex vector bundles over a torus bundle the vector bundles being endowed with various structures of increasing complexity. At a minimum, we consider vector bundles with a flat partial unitary connection, that is families or deformations of flat …
For a two-dimensional simple magnetic system, we study the attenuated magnetic ray transform , with attenuation given by a unitary connection and a skew-Hermitian Higgs field . We give a description for the range of acting on -valued tensor fields.
In a "naive" attempt to create algebraic quantum field theories on the circle, we obtain a family of unitary representations of Thompson's groups T and F for any subfactor. The Thompson group elements are the "local scale transformations" of the theory. In a simple case the coefficients of the representations are polyn…
We show that for a simple surface with boundary the attenuated ray transform in the presence of a unitary connection and a skew-Hermitian Higgs field is injective modulo the natural obstruction for functions and vector fields. We also show that the connection and the Higgs field are uniquely determined by the scatterin…
We consider the generalized Segal-Bargmann transform, defined in terms of the heat operator, for a noncompact symmetric space of the complex type. For radial functions, we show that the Segal-Bargmann transform is a unitary map onto a certain L^2 space of meromorphic functions. For general functions, we give an inversi…
We derive reconstruction formulas for a family of geodesic ray transforms with connection, defined on simple Riemannian surfaces. Such formulas provide injectivity of such all transforms in a neighbourhood of constant curvature metrics and non-unitary connections with curvature close to zero. If certain Fredholm equati…
Paper solves injectivity of X-ray transform on surfaces.
Recurrent Neural Networks (RNNs) are designed to handle sequential data but suffer from vanishing or exploding gradients. Recent work on Unitary Recurrent Neural Networks (uRNNs) have been used to address this issue and in some cases, exceed the capabilities of Long Short-Term Memory networks (LSTMs). We propose a simp…
Paper proves injectivity of non-abelian X-ray transform on certain spaces.
It is shown that the heat operator in the Hall coherent state transform for a compact Lie group is related with a Hermitian connection associated to a natural one-parameter family of complex structures on . The unitary parallel transport of this connection establishes the equivalence of (geometric) quantizati…
We introduce a novel approach to perform first-order optimization with orthogonal and unitary constraints. This approach is based on a parametrization stemming from Lie group theory through the exponential map. The parametrization transforms the constrained optimization problem into an unconstrained one over a Euclidea…

SPTN uses invertible transformations to improve sum-product networks.
We consider integral geometry inverse problems for unitary connections and skew-Hermitian Higgs fields on manifolds with negative sectional curvature. The results apply to manifolds in any dimension, with or without boundary, and also in the presence of trapped geodesics. In the boundary case, we show injectivity of th…
Study geometric and representation theory of statistical transformation models.
We introduce a differential geometric framework for describing families of quantum error-correcting codes and for understanding quantum fault tolerance. This work unifies the notion of topological fault tolerance with fault tolerance in other kinds of quantum error-correcting codes. In particular, we use fibre bundles …
We consider the moduli space MN of flat unitary connections on an open Kaehler manifold U (complement of a divisor with normal crossings) with restrictions on their monodromy transformations. Using intersection and L2 cohomologies with degenerating coefficients we construct a natural symplectic form F on MN. When U is …

This paper is an introduction to Khovanov homology, starting with the Kauffman bracket state summation, emphasizing the Bar-Natan Canopoloy and tangle cobordism approach. The paper discusses a simplicial approach to Khovanov homology and a quantum model for it so that the graded Euler characteristic that produces the J…
The paper proves new theorems about specific types of operator perturbations.
We formulate the unitary rational orbifold conformal field theories in the algebraic quantum field theory framework. Under general conditions, we show that the orbifold of a given unitary rational conformal field theories generates a unitary modular category. Many new unitary modular categories are obtained. We also sh…

Recurrent neural networks are powerful models for processing sequential data, but they are generally plagued by vanishing and exploding gradient problems. Unitary recurrent neural networks (uRNNs), which use unitary recurrence matrices, have recently been proposed as a means to avoid these issues. However, in previous …
Study on determinants of unitary Brownian motion and their asymptotic laws.
A natural one-parameter family of Kähler quantizations of the cotangent bundle of a compact Lie group , taking into account the half-form correction, was studied in \cite{FMMN}. In the present paper, it is shown that the associated Blattner-Kostant-Sternberg (BKS) pairing map is unitary and coincides with the…
We construct a new family of toric manifolds generating the unitary bordism ring. Each manifold in the family is the complex projectivisation of the sum of a line bundle and a trivial bundle over a complex projective space. We also construct a family of special unitary quasitoric manifolds which contains polynomial gen…

A major challenge in the training of recurrent neural networks is the so-called vanishing or exploding gradient problem. The use of a norm-preserving transition operator can address this issue, but parametrization is challenging.
