Given a knot K in the three-sphere, we address the question: which Dehn surgeries on K bound negative-definite four-manifolds? We show that the answer depends on a number m(K), which is a smooth concordance invariant. We study the properties of this invariant, and compute it for torus knots.

Recently Andrei Teleman considered instanton moduli spaces over negative definite four-manifolds XX with b2(X)1b_2(X) \geq 1. If b2(X)b_2(X) is divisible by four and b1(X)=1b_1(X) =1 a gauge-theoretic invariant can be defined; it is a count of flat connections modulo the gauge group. Our first result shows that if such a moduli s…

An oriented compact 4-manifold VV with boundary S3S^3 is called a positon (resp. negaton) if its intersection form is positive definite (resp. negative definite) and it is simply connected. In this paper, we prove that there exist infinitely many knots which cannot bound null-homologous disks either in positons or in …

When labeled data is scarce for a specific target task, transfer learning often offers an effective solution by utilizing data from a related source task. However, when transferring knowledge from a less related source, it may inversely hurt the target performance, a phenomenon known as negative transfer. Despite its p…

We propose weighted inner product similarity\textit{weighted inner product similarity} (WIPS) for neural network-based graph embedding. In addition to the parameters of neural networks, we optimize the weights of the inner product by allowing positive and negative values. Despite its simplicity, WIPS can approximate arbitrary general similarities in…
