We define the notion of the orbit group of a quandle via its connectivity and compute the orbit groups for some basic quandles. We also show that the orbit group counts the number of orbits of certain quandles.

The moduli space of genus 3 translation surfaces with a single zero has two connected components. We show that in the odd connected component H^{odd}(4) the only GL^+(2,R) orbit closures are closed orbits, the Prym locus Q(3,-1^3), and H^{odd}(4). Together with work of Matheus-Wright, this implies that there are only f…

In this work, we study the Willmore submanifolds in a closed connected Riemannian manifold which are orbits for the isometric action of a compact connected Lie group. We call them homogeneous Willmore submanifolds or Willmore orbits. The criteria for these special Willmore submanifolds is much easier than the general t…

The paper is devoted to the study of geodesic orbit Riemannian spaces that could be characterize by the property that any geodesic is an orbit of a 1-parameter group of isometries. The main result is the classification of compact simply connected geodesic orbit Riemannian spaces G/HG/H with two irreducible submodules in…

We present a simple approach to questions of topological orbit equivalence for actions of countable groups on topological and smooth manifolds. For example, for any action of a countable group ΓΓ on a topological manifold where the fixed sets for any element are contained in codimension two submanifolds, every orbit e…

For a representation of a finite group GG on a complex vector space VV we determine when a holomorphic (pq)\binom{p}{q}-tensor field on the principle stratum of the orbit space V/GV/G can be lifted to a holomorphic GG-invariant tensor field on VV. This extends also to connections. As a consequence we determine those h…

Semisimple (co)adjoint orbits through real hyperbolic elements are well-known to be symplectomorphic to cotangent bundles. We provide a new proof of this fact based on elementary results on both Lie theory and symplectic geometry. Our proof establishes a new connection between the Iwasawa horospherical projection and t…

The goal of this diploma thesis is to give a detailed description of Kirillov's Orbit Method for the case of compact connected Lie groups. The theory of Kirillov aims at finding all irreducible unitary representations of a given Lie group GG. The first chapter is intended to recall some facts about Lie groups. The mos…

We prove that for a weakly exact magnetic system on a closed connected Riemannian manifold, almost all energy levels contain a closed orbit. More precisely, we prove the following stronger statements. Let (M,g)(M,g) denote a closed connected Riemannian manifold and σσ a weakly exact 2-form. Let φtφ_{t} denote the magneti…
