result If a cylinder has a metric with positive scalar curvature and nonnegative mean curvature on the boundary, it can be modified to have a metric with positive scalar curvature on the boundary.

It has been 40 years since Lawson and Osserman introduced the three minimal cones associated with Dirichlet problems in their 1977 Acta paper [LO77]. The first cone was shown area-minimizing by Harvey and Lawson in the celebrated paper [HL82]. In this paper, we confirm that the other two are also area-minimizing. In fa…

We prove stability inequalities for Lawson cones MkhM_{kh} with (k,h),(h,k){(3,5),(2,7),(2,8),(2,9),(2,10),(2,11)}.(k,h),(h,k)\in\{(3,5),(2,7),(2,8),(2,9),(2,10),(2,11)\}. This extends the results of G. De. Philippis and F. Maggi to all area-minimizing Lawson cones.

Recently Penskoi [J. Geom. Anal. 25 (2015), 2645-2666, arXiv:1308.1628] generalized the well known two-parametric family of Lawson tau-surfaces τr,mτ_{r,m} minimally immersed in spheres to a three-parametric family Ta,b,cT_{a,b,c} of tori and Klein bottles minimally immersed in spheres. It was remarked that this family inclu…

Extremal spectral properties of the Lawson tori are studied. A Lawson torus carries an extremal metric for some eigenvalue of the Laplace-Beltrami operator. The main result of this paper is that the number of this eigenvalue is expressed in terms of fundamental tones of auxiliary periodic Sturm-Liouville problems.

Minimal and CMC surfaces in S3S^3 can be treated via their associated family of flat $\SL(2,\C)$-connections. In this the paper we parametrize the moduli space of flat $\SL(2,\C)$-connections on the Lawson minimal surface of genus 2 which are equivariant with respect to certain symmetries of Lawson's geometric construc…

We prove that the Lawson surface ξg,1ξ_{g,1} in Lawson's original notation, which has genus gg and can be viewed as a desingularization of two orthogonal great two-spheres in the round three-sphere S3{\mathbb{S}}^3, has index 2g+32g+3 and nullity 66 for any genus g2g\ge2. In particular ξg,1ξ_{g,1} has no exceptional Jacobi…

We define cylinder knots as billiard knots in a cylinder. We present a necessary condition for cylinder knots: after dividing cylinder knots by possible rotational symmetries we obtain ribbon knots. We obtain an upper bound for the number of cylinder knots with two fixed parameters (out of three). In addition we prove …

We investigate the Lawson genus 22 surface by methods from integrable system theory. We prove that the associated family of flat connections comes from a family of flat connections on a 44-punctured sphere. We describe the symmetries of the holonomy and show that it is already determined by the holonomy around one of…

We show the area-minimality property of all homogeneous area-minimizing hypercones in Euclidean spaces (classified by Lawlor) following Lawson's original idea in his 72' Trans. The purpose of this paper is to introduce Harvey-Lawson manifolds and review the construction of certain mirror dual Calabi-Yau submanifolds inside a G_2 manifold. More specifically, given a Harvey-Lawson manifold HL, we explain how to assign a pair of tangent bundle valued 2 and 3-forms to a G_2 manifold (M,HL, \varph…

We prove the existence of the analog of Lawson's minimal cones for a notion of nonlocal minimal surface introduced by Caffarelli, Roquejoffre and Savin, and establish their stability/instability in low dimensions. In particular we find that there are nonlocal stable minimal cones in dimension 7, in contrast with the ca…

To study the Lawson-Osserman's counterexample to the Bernstein problem for minimal submanifolds of higher codimension, a new geometric concept, submanifolds in Euclidean space with constant Jordan angles(CJA), is introduced. By exploring the second fundamental form of submanifolds with CJA, we can characterize the Laws…

Discrete linear Weingarten surfaces in space forms are characterized as special discrete ΩΩ-nets, a discrete analogue of Demoulin's ΩΩ-surfaces. It is shown that the Lie-geometric deformation of ΩΩ-nets descends to a Lawson transformation for discrete linear Weingarten surfaces, which coincides with the well-known L…
