42 results for L_p-cohomology

We prove the following version of Poincare duality for reduced Lq,pL_{q,p}-cohomology: For any 1<q,p<1<q,p<\infty, the Lq,pL_{q,p}-cohomology of a Riemannian manifold is in duality with the interior Lp,qcohomologyforL_{p',q'}-cohomology for 1/p+1/p'=1,, 1/q+1/q'=1$.

method Examine SL3_3(R) and 5-dimensional solvable Lie groups, use spectral sequence arguments.
result Discover a continuum of quasi-isometry classes of rank 2 solvable Lie groups.

We study the relation between Sobolev inequalities for differential forms on a Riemannian manifold (M,g)(M,g) and the Lq,pL_{q,p}-cohomology of that manifold. The Lq,pL_{q,p}-cohomology of (M,g)(M,g) is defined to be the quotient of the space of closed differential forms in Lp(M)L^p(M) modulo the exact forms which are exterior diff…

We study the simplicial {\ell} q,p cohomology of Carnot groups G. We show vanishing and non-vanishing results depending of the range of the (p, q) gap with respect to the weight gaps in the Lie algebra cohomology of G.

LpL^p-cohomology of rank one symmetric spaces of noncompact type is shown to be Hausdorff for values of pp where this does not follow from curvature pinching. Using the multiplicative structure on LpL^p-cohomology, it is shown that no simply connected Riemannian manifold with strictly -1/4-pinched sectional curvature …

The vanishing of reduced 2\ell^2-cohomology for amenable groups can be traced to the work of Cheeger & Gromov. The subject matter here is reduced p\ell^p-cohomology for p]1,[p \in ]1,\infty[, particularly its vanishing. Results showing its triviality are obtained, for example: when p]1,2]p \in ]1,2] and GG is amenable; whe…

Vanishing results for reduced Lp,qL_{p,q}-cohomology are established in the case of twisted products, which are a~generalization of warped products. Only the case qpq \leq p is considered. This is an extension of some results by Gol'dshtein, Kuz'minov and Shvedov about the LpL_{p}-cohomology of warped cylinders. One of t…

Study on LpL^p cohomology and Hodge decomposition for ALE manifolds.

problem Understanding LpL^p cohomology dimensions and harmonic forms in ALE manifolds.
method Relating dimensions of LpL^p cohomology spaces to decaying harmonic forms, proving independence and jumps in dimensions, and providing Hodge decompositions.
result Dimension of LpL^p reduced cohomology spaces in degree k is independent of p for k not equal to 1 or n-1, and jumps by a factor N-1 for k equal to 1 or n-1.

In this paper, it is shown that the reduced p\ell^p-cohomology is trivial for a class of finitely generated amenable groups called transport amenable. These groups are those for which there exist a sequence of measures ξnξ_n converging to a left-invariant mean and such that the transport cost between ξnξ_n displaced b…

A sharp vanishing theorem for the LpL^p cohomology torsion of Riemannian manifolds with pinched negative curvature is given. It follows that certain negatively curved homogeneous spaces cannot be quasiisometric to better pinched manifolds.

Let MM be a smooth Riemannian manifold which is the union of a compact part and a finite number of Euclidean ends, $\RR^n \setminus B(0,R)$ for some R>0R > 0, each of which carries the standard metric. Our main result is that the Riesz transform on MM is bounded from Lp(M)Lp(M;TM)L^p(M) \to L^p(M; T^*M) for 1<p<n1 < p < n and unbou…

Let pp be a real number greater than one and let GG be a connected graph of bounded degree. In this paper we introduce the pp-harmonic boundary of GG. We use this boundary to characterize the graphs GG for which the constant functions are the only pp-harmonic functions on GG. It is shown that any continuous func…

Let (M,ω,J,g)(M,ω,J,g) be a non-compact almost Kähler manifold. In this paper we provide various criteria that assure that ωkω^k induces a non trivial class in the reduced LpL^p maximal/minimal cohomology of (M,g)(M,g). Furthermore in the last part we explore some topological applications of our results.

We characterize primary operations in differential cohomology via stacks, and illustrate by differentially refining Steenrod squares and Steenrod powers explicitly. This requires a delicate interplay between integral, rational, and mod p cohomology, as well as cohomology with U(1) coefficients and differential forms. A…

Roughly speaking, let us say that a map between metric spaces is large scale conformal if it maps packings by large balls to large quasi-balls with limited overlaps. This quasi-isometry invariant notion makes sense for finitely generated groups. Inspired by work by Benjamini and Schramm, we show that under such maps, s…

FI-modules were introduced by the first three authors in [CEF] to encode sequences of representations of symmetric groups.
