The study computes Gromoll filtration groups and fundamental groups for specific dimensions.
Let X be a closed m-dimensional spin manifold which admits a metric of positive scalar curvature and let Pos(X) be the space of all such metrics. For any g in Pos(X), Hitchin used the KO-valued alpha-invariant to define a homomorphism A_{n-1} from π_{n-1}(Pos(X) to KO_{m+n}. He then showed that A_0 is not 0 if m = 8k o…
We construct non-trivial elements of order 2 in the homotopy groups , for * congruent 1 or 2 modulo 8, which are detected by the "assembling homomorphism" (giving rise to the Gromoll filtration), followed by the alpha-invariant in . These elements are constructed by means of Mor…
A so-called special generic map is by definition a map of smooth manifolds all of whose singularities are definite fold points. It is in general an open problem posed by Saeki in 1993 to determine the set of integers for which a given homotopy sphere admits a special generic map into . By means of t…
Solved Gromoll-Walschap's conjecture on negative curvature manifolds.
We will present a new proof of the Gromoll-Grove diameter rigidity theorem.
We prove that the Abresch-Gromoll inequality holds on infinitesimally Hilbertian CD(K,N) spaces in the same form as the one available on smooth Riemannian manifolds.
We investigate conformality of the differential of a mapping between Riemannian manifolds if the tangent bundles are equipped with a generalized metric of Cheeger-Gromoll type.
In this paper, we prove two generalized versions of the Cheeger-Gromoll splitting theorem via the non-negativity of the Bakry-Émery Ricci curavture on complete Riemannian manifolds.
The main purpose of the present paper is to construct Riemannian almost product structures on the tensor bundle equipped with Cheeger-Gromoll type metric over a Riemannian manifold and present some results concerning with these structures.
We investigate horizontal conformality of a differential of a map between Riemannian manifolds where the tangent bundles are equipped with Cheeger--Gromoll type metrics. As a corollary, we characterize the differential of a map as a harmonic morphism.
Following the lines of the celebrated Riemannian result of Gromoll and Meyer, we use infinite dimensional equivariant Morse theory to establish the existence of infinitely many geometrically distinct closed geodesics in a class of globally hyperbolic stationary Lorentzian manifolds.
The purpose of this paper is to investigate applications the covariant derivatives, killing vector fields and to calculate the components of the curvature tensor CGR of the Cheeger-Gromoll metric with respect to adapted frames in a the Riemannian manifold to its tangent bundle T(Mn)
Here we generalize the Gromoll-Meyer construction of an exotic 7-sphere by producing geometric models of exotic 8, 10 and Kervaire spheres as quotients of sphere bundles over spheres by free isometric actions. We give a geometric application at the end.
We construct a new infinite family of models of exotic 7-spheres. These models are direct generalizations of the Gromoll-Meyer sphere. From their symmetries, geodesics and submanifolds half of them are closer to the standard 7-sphere than any other known model for an exotic 7-sphere.
We study harmonic sections of a Riemannian vector bundle whose total space is equipped with a 2-parameter family of metrics which includes both the Sasaki and Cheeger-Gromoll metrics. This enables the theory of harmonic unit sections to be extended to bundles with non-zero Euler class.
We study a notion of curvature for finitely generated groups which serves as a role of Ricci curvature for Riemannian manifolds. We prove an analog of Cheeger-Gromoll splitting theorem. As a consequence, we give a geometric characterization of virtually abelian groups. We also explore the relation between this notion o…
We construct a metrical framed structure on the tensor bundle of a Riemannian manifold equipped with a Cheeger-Gromoll type metric and by restricting this structure to the tensor sphere bundle, we obtain an almost metrical paracontact structure on the tensor sphere bundle. Moreover, we show that the tensor sphere bundl…
Gromoll and Meyer have represented a certain exotic 7-sphere as a biquotient of the Lie group . We show for a 2-parameter family of left invariant metrics on that the induced metric on has strictly positive sectional curvature at all points outside four subvarieties of codimension wh…
We study unit horizontal bundles associated with Riemannian submersions. First we investigate metric properties of an arbitrary unit horizontal bundle equipped with a Riemannian metric of the Cheeger-Gromoll type. Next we examine it from the Gromov-Hausdorff convergence theory point of view, and we state a collapse the…
The Bakry-Émery-Ricci tensor is extended and comparison theorems are proven.
Derivative map for disk diffeomorphisms induces nontrivial homotopy groups.
In this paper we study a Riemanian metric on the tangent bundle of a Riemannian manifold which generalizes the Cheeger Gromoll metric and a compatible almost complex structure which together with the metric confers to a structure of locally conformal almost Kählerian manifold. We found conditions unde…
We studied isometric stochastic flows of a Stratonovich stochastic differential equation on spheres, i.e. on the standard sphere and Gromoll-Meyer exotic sphere. The standard sphere can be constructed as the quotient manifold with the so-called -action of , where…
Study geodesics on nested non-holonomic systems.
Among a family of 2-parameter left invariant metrics on Sp(2), we determine which have nonnegative sectional curvatures and which are Einstein. On the quotiente , we construct a homogeneous isoparametric foliation with isoparametric hypersurfaces diffeomorphic to Sp(2). Further…
We show that there is a metric on the Gromoll-Meyer sphere with positive sectional curvature.
The first part of the paper is to improve the fundamental theory of isoparametric functions on general Riemannian manifolds. Next we focus our attention on exotic spheres, especially on "exotic" 4-spheres (if exist) and the Gromoll-Meyer sphere. In particular, as one of main results we prove: there exists no properly t…
Natural metrics (Sasaki metric, Cheeger-Gromoll metric, Kaluza-Klein metrics etc.. ) on the tangent bundle of a Riemannian manifold is a central topic in Riemannian geometry. Generalized Cheeger-Gromoll metrics is a family of natural metrics depending on two parameters with and . This…
Let be an n-dimensional Riemannian manifold and be its cotangent bundle equipped with a Riemannian metric of Cheeger Gromoll type which rescale the horizontal part by a nonzero differentiable function. The main purpose of the present paper is to discuss curvature properties of and construct al…
We describe a few abstract principles that are used in the deformation of the Gromoll-Meyer metric to positive curvature.
We construct a co-dimension completely non-holonomic sub-bundle on the Gromoll-Meyer exotic sphere based on its realization as a base space of a Sp(2)-principal bundle with the structure group Sp(1). The same method is valid for constructing a co-dimension 3 completely non-holonomic sub-bundle on the standard 7…
The paper studies geometric properties of statistical manifolds with specific metrics.
We recognize the Gromoll-Meyer sphere Sigma^7 as the geodesic join of a simple closed geodesic and a minimal subsphere Sigma^5, which can be equivariantly identified with the Brieskorn sphere W^5_3. As applications we in particular determine the full isometry group of Sigma^7, classify all closed subgroups that act fre…
Study weightings from singular Lie filtrations.
We complete a minor gap in Gromoll and Walschap classification of metric fibrations from the Euclidean space, thus completing the classification of Riemannian foliations on Euclidean spaces.
We investigate the geometry of a normal bundle equipped with a -metric, i.e., Riemannian metric of Cheeger-Gromoll type, to the submanifold of a Riemannian manifold. We derive all natural object as the Levi-Civita connection, curvature tensor, sectional and scalar curvature. We prove that under some natural cond…

Develops a new filtration for asset pricing models.
In sequential anytime-valid inference, any admissible procedure must be based on e-processes: generalizations of test martingales that quantify the accumulated evidence against a composite null hypothesis at any stopping time. This paper proposes a method for combining e-processes constructed in different filtrations b…
We prove that a metric measure space satisfying finite dimensional lower Ricci curvature bounds and whose Sobolev space is Hilbert is rectifiable. That is, a -space is rectifiable, and in particular for -a.e. point the tangent cone is unique and euclidean of dimension at most . The…
Geodesic loops escape from balls at a sublinear rate imply virtually abelian fundamental group.
We introduce several families of filtrations on the space of vector bundles over a smooth projective variety. These filtrations are defined using the large k asymptotics of the kernel of the Dolbeault Dirac operator on a bundle twisted by the kth power of an ample line bundle. The filtrations measure the failure of the…
In a recent paper we defined a new filtration of the mapping class group--the "Lagrangian" filtration. We here determine the successive quotients of this filtration, up to finite index. As an application we show that, for any additive invariant of finite-type (e.g. the Casson invariant), and any level of the Lagrangian…
We give a quite detailed overview on the proof of the Cheeger-Colding-Gromoll splitting theorem in the abstract framework of spaces with Riemannian Ricci curvature bounded from below.
We classify all biquotients whose rational cohomology rings are generated by one element. As a consequence we show that the Gromoll-Meyer 7-sphere is the only exotic sphere which can be written as a biquotient.
