We classify compact homogeneous geometries of irreducible spherical type and rank at least 2 which admit a transitive action of a compact connected group, up to equivariant 2-coverings. We apply our classification to polar actions on compact symmetric spaces.
We study totally geodesic codimension 1 smooth foliations on Lorentzian manifold. We are in particular interested by the relations between riemannian flows and geodesic foliations. We prove that, up to a 2-cover, any Seifert bundle admit such a foliation.
It is classical that given any Seifert structure on N, Reidemeister-Schreier's algorithm produces a presentation of all index 2 subgroups of the fundamental group of N, described as the fundamental group of some Seifert manifolds. The new result of this article is concise formulas that gather all possible cases.
It is known that the linking form on the 2-cover of slice knots has a metabolizer. We show that several weaker conditions, or some other conditions related to sliceness, do not imply the existence of a metabolizer. We then show how the Rudolph-Bennequin inequality can be used indirectly to prove that some knots are not…
We use the symbol calculus for foliations developed in our previous paper to derive a cohomological formula for the Connes-Chern character of the semi-finite spectral triple. The same proof works for the Type I spectral triple of Connes-Moscovici. The cohomology classes of the two Connes-Chern characters induce the sam…
In this paper, we investigate existence of inequivalent smooth structures on closed smooth non-orientable 4-manifolds building upon results of Akbulut, Cappell-Shaneson, Fintushel-Stern, Gompf, and Stolz. We add to the number of known constructions and provide new examples of exotic manifolds that are obtained as an ap…
The study proves a discrete Blaschke theorem for convex polygons in 2-dimensional space forms.
Study covers of Chamanara surface with large Veech groups.
We show that the pluriclosed flow preserves generalized Kähler structures with the extra condition , a condition referred to as "split tangent bundle." Moreover, we show that in this in this case the flow reduces to a nonconvex fully nonlinear parabolic flow of a scalar potential function. We prove a num…
