In this paper, we explore the virtual technique that is very useful in studying moduli problem from differential geometric point of view. We introduce a class of new objects "virtual manifolds/orbifolds", on which we develop the integration theory. In particular, the virtual localization formula is obtained.

The paper studies knots in projective space using virtual link theory.
A virtual link diagram is called normal if the associated abstract link diagram is checkerboard colorable, and a virtual link is normal if it has a normal diagram as a representative. In this paper, we introduce a method of converting a virtual link diagram to a normal virtual link diagram by use of the double covering …
In 2002, D. Hrencecin and L.H. Kauffman defined a filamentation invariant on oriented chord diagrams that may determine whether the corresponding flat virtual knot diagrams are non-trivial. A virtual knot diagram is non-classical if its related flat virtual knot diagram is non-trivial. Hence filamentations can be used …
This paper is an introduction to the subject of virtual knot theory, combined with a discussion of some specific new theorems about virtual knots. The new results are as follows: We prove, using a 3-dimensional topology approach that if a connected sum of two virtual knots and is trivial, then so are bo…
This is the first part of a trilogy where we apply the theory of virtual manifold/orbifolds developed by the first named author and Tian to study the Gromov-Witten moduli spaces. In this paper, we resolve the main analytic issue arising from the lack of differentiability of $PSL(2, \C)$-action on spaces of -m…
A new method for virtual drug screening detects top treatments.
In the present paper we give a new method for converting virtual knots and links to virtual braids. Indeed the braiding method given in this paper is quite general, and applies to all the categories in which braiding can be accomplished. We give a unifying topological interpretation of virtuals and flats (virtual strin…
We consider several classes of knotted objects, namely usual, virtual and welded pure braids and string links, and two equivalence relations on those objects, induced by either self-crossing changes or self-virtualizations. We provide a number of results which point out the differences between these various notions. Th…
We use virtual neighborhood technique to establish GW-invariants, Quantum cohomology, equivariant GW-invariants, equivariant quantum cohomology and Floer cohomology for general symplectic manifold. We also establish GW-invariants for a family of symplectic manifolds. As a consequence, we prove Arnold conjecture for non…
Virtual links were introduced by Kauffman in 1999. We characterize the virtual link invariants that are partition functions of vertex models (as considered by de la Harpe and Jones), both in the real and in the complex case. We show that for any fixed number of states, these invariants form an affine variety. Basic tec…
We introduce a new technique for studying classical knots with the methods of virtual knot theory. Let be a knot and a knot in the complement of with . Suppose there is covering space , where is a regular neighborhood of satisfyin…

The paper solves the conjugacy problem in a specific braid group quotient and finds infinite virtually cyclic subgroups.
Geometric interpretations of some virtual knot invariants are given in terms of invariants of links in . Alexander polynomials of almost classical knots are shown to be specializations of the multi-variable Alexander polynomial of certain two-component boundary links of the form with a fi…
We observe that any knot invariant extends to virtual knots. The isotopy classification problem for virtual knots is reduced to an algebraic problem formulated in terms of an algebra of arrow diagrams. We introduce a new notion of finite type invariant and show that the restriction of any such invariant of degree n to …
Virtual reality (VR) offers immersive visualization and intuitive interaction. We leverage VR to enable any biomedical professional to deploy a deep learning (DL) model for image classification. While DL models can be powerful tools for data analysis, they are also challenging to understand and develop. To make deep le…
It is well-known that the monoid of long virtual knots is not commutative. This contrasts with the case of classical long knots, where for all . In the present paper, we present a new proof that two inequivalent non-classical prime long virtual knots never commute. The original r…
A classical result by K.B. Lee states that every group morphism between almost crystallographic groups is induced by an affine map on the nilpotent Lie group whereon these groups by definition act. It is the main technique for studying morphisms between virtually nilpotent groups, having important applications in fixed…
This article serves a few purposes. First of all, it reviews polyfold--Kuranishi correspondence I (http://arxiv.org/abs/1402.7008) and previews and samples some results from four papers I have been preparing. It is also a written-up and expanded version of a talk I gave at a symplectic conference in Chengdu on June 28,…

Study symplectic fillings of lens spaces, focusing on virtually overtwisted contact structures.
We conjecture a formula for the virtual elliptic genera of moduli spaces of rank 2 sheaves on minimal surfaces of general type. We express our conjecture in terms of the Igusa cusp form and Borcherds type lifts of three quasi-Jacobi forms which are all related to the Weierstrass elliptic function. We also …

We prove that the profinite completion of the fundamental group of a compact 3-manifold satisfies a Tits alternative: if a closed subgroup does not contain a free pro- subgroup for any , then is virtually soluble, and furthermore of a very particular form. In particular, the profinite completion of th…

Excellent ranking power along with well calibrated probability estimates are needed in many classification tasks. In this paper, we introduce a technique, Calibrated Boosting-Forest that captures both. This novel technique is an ensemble of gradient boosting machines that can support both continuous and binary labels. …

Study virtualized Delta, Sharp, and Pass moves for oriented virtual knots and links.
The virtual unknotting number of a virtual knot is the minimal number of crossing changes that makes the virtual knot to be the unknot, which is defined only for virtual knots virtually homotopic to the unknot. We focus on the virtual knot obtained from the standard (p,q)-torus knot diagram by replacing all crossings o…

Virtual knots and links get multicrossings and petal diagrams.
We prove a conjecture of Gromov's to the effect that manifolds with isotropic curvature bounded below by 1 (after possibly rescaling) are macroscopically 1-dimensional on the scales greater than 1. As a consequence we prove that compact manifolds with positive isotropic curvature have virtually free fundamental groups.…
A virtual string can be defined as an equivalence class of planar diagrams under certain kinds of diagrammatic moves. Virtual strings are related to virtual knots in that a simple operation on a virtual knot diagram produces a diagram for a virtual string. In this paper we consider three operations on a virtual string …
A virtual -string is a chord diagram with core circles and a collection of arrows between core circles. We consider virtual -strings up to virtual homotopy, compositions of flat virtual Reidemeister moves on chord diagrams. Given a virtual 1-string , Turaev associated a based matrix that encodes invariants…
This article is the second part of the article we promised to write at the end of Section 1 of [FOOO15] (arXiv:1209.4410). (Part I appeared in [Part I] (arXiv:1503.07631).) We discuss the foundation of the virtual fundamental chain and cycle technique, especially its version that appeared in [FOn] and also in Section A…
