The study examines Hopfian properties of conjugation quandles and their underlying groups.

problem Understanding the relationship between Hopfian properties of conjugation quandles and their underlying groups.

result Conjugation quandles of Baumslag-Solitar groups are infinitely generated and not necessarily Hopfian.

In this paper we address the relation between the orbifold fundamental group and the topology of the underlying space. In particular, under the assumption that the orbifold fundamental group is equal to the fundamental group of the underlying space, we prove Poincaré Duality for orbifolds of dimension 4 and 5.

We define biquandle structures on a given quandle, and show that any biquandle is given by some biquandle structure on its underlying quandle. By determining when two biquandle structures yield isomorphic biquandles, we obtain a relationship between the automorphism group of a biquandle and the automorphism group of it…

Collective motion of animal groups often undergoes changes due to perturbations. In a topological sense, we describe these changes as switching between low-dimensional embedding manifolds underlying a group of evolving agents. To characterize such manifolds, first we introduce a simple mapping of agents between time-st…

It is shown that there is a CC^*-algebraic quantum group related to any double Lie group. An algebra underlying this quantum group is an algebra of a differential groupoid naturally associated with a double Lie group

This paper is devoted to the development and applications of some (new) basic concepts in Lie theory, both from `computational" and "observability" viewpoint. We specify set of all "G-equivariant" maps from a given Lie group G to the underlying manifold M, namely GG-set, and also we introduce "conjugacy" in Lie group …

We prove for the automorphism group of an arbitrary parabolic geometry that the C0C^0 and CC^{\infty} topologies coincide, and the group admits the structure of a Lie group in this topology. We further show that this automorphism group is closed in the homeomorphism group of the underlying manifold.

We present a simple remark that assures that the invariant theory of certain real Lie groups coincides with that of the underlying affine, real algebraic groups. In particular, this result applies to the non-compact orthogonal or symplectic Lie groups.

This paper develops a theory for group Lasso using a concept called strong group sparsity. Our result shows that group Lasso is superior to standard Lasso for strongly group-sparse signals. This provides a convincing theoretical justification for using group sparse regularization when the underlying group structure is …

Bestvina-Brady groups arise as kernels of length homomorphisms from right-angled Artin groups G_\G to the integers. Under some connectivity assumptions on the flag complex Δ_\G, we compute several algebraic invariants of such a group N_\G, directly from the underlying graph \G. As an application, we give examples of Be…

We prove an analogue of the result of Hsiang and Kleiner for 4-dimensional compact orbifolds with positive curvature and an isometric circle action. Additionally, we prove that when the underlying space is simply connected, then the orbifold fundamental group provides a bound on the failure of integer-valued Poincare D…

In this paper, we prove that each automorphism of a surface braid group is induced by a homeomorphism of the underlying surface, provided that this surface is a closed, connected, orientable surface of genus at least 2, and the number of strings is at least three. We classify orthogonal actions of finite groups on Euclidean vector spaces for which the corresponding quotient space is a topological, homological or Lipschitz manifold, possibly with boundary. In particular, our results answer the question of when the underlying space of an orbifold is a manifold.

result Homology of these groups coincides with stable homology of handlebody groups in some cases.

We consider the pair of degenerate compatible antibrackets satisfying a generalization of the axioms imposed in the triplectic quantization of gauge theories. We show that this actually encodes a Lie group structure, with the antibrackets being related to the left- and right- invariant vector fields on the group. The s…

The space of topological decompositions into triangulations of a surface has a natural graph structure where two triangulations share an edge if they are related by a so-called flip.
