In the paper, we study variation formulas for transversally harmonic maps and bi-harmonic maps, respectively. We also study the transversal Jacobi field along a map and give several relations with infinitesimal automorphisms.

We study transversality for Lipschitz-Fredholm maps in the context of bounded Fréchet manifolds. We show that the set of all Lipschitz-Fredholm maps of a fixed index between Fréchet spaces has the transverse stability property. We give a straightforward extension of the Smale transversality theorem by using the general…

The abstract discusses transversality for infinite dimensional manifolds.
We present a definable smooth version of the Thom transversality theorem. We show further that the set of non-transverse definable smooth maps is nowhere dense in the definable smooth topology. Finally, we prove a definable version of a theorem of Trotman which says that the Whitney -regularity of a stratification…
We prove a generalization of Thom's transversality theorem. It gives conditions under which the jet map $f_*|_Y:Y\subseteq J^r(D,M)\ra J^r(D,N)$ is generically (for $f:M\ra N$) transverse to a submanifold . We apply this to study transversality properties of a restriction of a fixed map $g:M\ra P$ …
We prove here new results about transversality and related geometric properties of a holomorphic, formal, or CR mapping, sending one generic submanifold of $\bC^N$ into another. One of our main results is that a finite mapping is transversal to the target manifold provided this manifold is of finite type. For the case …

In his celebrated paper "Generic projections", John Mather has given a striking transversality theorem and its applications on generic projections. On the other hand, in this paper, two transversality theorems on generic linearly perturbed mappings are shown . Moreover, some applications of the two the…
In this paper, we consider holomorphic mappings between real hypersurfaces in different dimensional complex spaces. We give a number of conditions that imply that such mappings are transversal to the target hypersurface at most points.
In his 1979 paper Trotman proves, using the techniques of the Thom transversality theorem, that under some conditions on the dimensions of the manifolds under consideration, openness of the set of maps transverse to a stratification in the strong (Whitney) topology implies that the stratification is -regular. Here…
Proves generalized Chen's conjecture for biharmonic maps on foliations.
In this paper, we show the convexity of the image of a moment map on a transverse symplectic manifold equipped with a torus action under a certain condition. We also study properties of moment maps in the case of transverse Kähler manifolds. As an application, we give a positive answer to the conjecture posed by Cupit-…
We show that every smooth manifold admits a smooth triangulation transverse to a given smooth map. This removes the properness assumption on the smooth map used in an essential way in Scharlemann's construction [5].
We study Thom Transversality Theorem using a point of view, suggested by Gromov, which allows to avoid the use of Sard Theorem and gives finer informations on the structure of the set of non-transverse maps.
For a compact riemannian manifold of negative curvature, the geodesic foliation of its unit tangent bundle is independent of the negatively curved metric, up to Holder bicontinuous homeomorphism. However, the riemannian metric defines a natural transverse measure to this foliation, the Liouville transverse measure, whi…
For a word w in the braid group on n-strands, we denote by T_w the corresponding transverse braid in the rotational symmetric tight contact structure on S^3. We exhibit a map on link Floer homology which sends the transverse invariant associated to T_{ws_i} to that associated to T_w, where s_i is one of the standard ge…
In this paper, we consider some generalized holomorphic maps between pseudo-Hermitian manifolds. These maps include the \emph{CR} maps and the transversally holomorphic maps. In terms of some sub-Laplacian or Hessian type Bochner formulas, and comparison theorems in the pseudo-Hermitian version, we are able to establis…

Let be a smooth foliation on a closed Riemannian manifold , and let be a transverse invariant measure of . Suppose that is absolutely continuous with respect to the Lebesgue measure on smooth transversals. Then a topological definition of the -Lefschetz number of any leaf preserving diffeomorphism …
Let (resp., ) be a manifold (resp., an open subset of ). Let and be an immersion and a mapping, respectively. Generally, the composition does not necessarily yield a mapping transverse to a given subfiber-bundle of …
We prove a generalisation of Bott's vanishing theorem for the full transverse frame holonomy groupoid of any transversely orientable foliated manifold. As a consequence we obtain a characteristic map encoding both primary and secondary characteristic classes. Previous descriptions of this characteristic map are formula…
For closed manifolds endowed with a Riemannian foliation of codimension , one can define a transversal Seiberg-Witten map. We show that there is a finite dimensional approximation for such a map. By such a method and under the condition that is a lattice of , we can define a…
We investigate various structures associated with the hyperbolic Markov and homological spectra of a pseudoAnosov map on a surface. Each unstable eigenvalue of the action of on first cohomolgy yields an eigen-cocycle that is transverse and holonomy invariant to the stable foliation of . Each …

The main theorem of this paper is a result of estimated transversality with respect to stratifications of jet spaces in the approximately holomorphic category over an almost-complex manifold. The notion of asymptotic ampleness of complex vector bundles over an almost-complex manifold is also discussed, as well as appli…

Let be a CR manifold with transversal, proper CR -action. We show that is a complex space such that the quotient map is a CR map. Moreover the quotient is universal, i.e. every invariant CR map into a complex manifold factorises uniquely over a holomorphic map on . We then use this result and complex …
In this paper, we address a question of Donaldson's on the best estimate that can be achieved for the transversality of an asymptotically holomorphic sequence of sections of increasing powers of a line bundle over an integral symplectic manifold. More specifically, we find an upper bound for the transversality of n suc…
Using 1-twist rim surgery, we construct infinitely many smoothly embedded, orientable surfaces in the 4-ball bounding a knot in the 3-sphere that are pairwise topologically isotopic, but not ambient diffeomorphic. We distinguish the surfaces using the maps they induce on perturbed sutured Floer homology. Along the way,…

The purpose of this short paper is to further develop the theory of transverse generalized complex structures. We focus on proving some equivalent conditions to the basic -lemma. In his celebrated paper "Generic projections", John Mather has shown that almost all linear projections from a submanifold of a vector space into a subspace are transverse with respect to a given modular submanifold. In this paper, an improvement of Mather's result is stated. Namely, we show that almost all linear pert…

M. F. Atiyah proved that the index of a transversally elliptic operator relative to a free action can be computed by using indices of elliptic operators on the orbit manifold.
