We study the fundamental properties of curvature in groupoids within the framework of synthetic differential geometry. As is usual in synthetic differential geometry, its combinatorial nature is emphasized. In particular, the classical Bianchi identity is deduced from its combinatorial one.

Some differential equations are considered in the context of Synthetic Differential Geometry. Here, this means that not only nilpotent infinitesimals, but also the formation of function spaces, is exploited. In particular, we utilize distribution spaces in our study of wave and heat equations.

Groupoids provide a more appropriate framework for differential geometry than principal bundles. Synthetic differential geometry is the avant-garde branch of differential geometry, in which nilpotent infinitesimals are available in abundance. The principal objective in this paper is to show within our favorite framewor…

Just as the Jacobi identity of vector fields is a natural consequence of the general Jacobi identity of microcubes in synthetic differential geometry, it is to be shown in this paper that the graded Jacobi identity of the Frolicher-Nijenhuis bracket is also a natural consequence of the general Jacobi identity.

In this paper is proposed a kind of model theory for our axiomatic differential geometry. It is claimed that smooth manifolds, which have occupied the center stage in differential geometry, should be replaced by functors on the category of Weil algebras. Our model theory is geometrically natural and conceptually motiva…

We extend to a scheme-theoretic context the notion of a combinatorial differential form, due to A.Kock in the framework of synthetic differential geometry. We show that group-valued combinatorial forms on a scheme may be identified, under very general hypotheses, with traditional Lie algebra-valued differential forms, …

We show that there is a fully faithful embedding of the category of manifolds with corners into the Cahiers topos, one of the premier models for Synthetic Differential Geometry. This embedding is shown to have a number of nice properties, such as preservation of open covers and transverse fibre products. We develop a t…

The central object of synthetic differential geometry is microlinear spaces. In our previous paper [Microlinearity in Frolicher spaces -beyond the regnant philosophy of manifolds-, International Journal of Pure and Applied Mathematics, 60 (2010), 15-24] we have emancipated microlinearity from within well-adapted models…

In the context of synthetic differential geometry, we study the Laplace operator an a Riemannian manifold. The main new aspect is a neighbourhood of the diagonal, smaller than the second neighbourhood usually required as support for second order differential operators. The new neighbourhood has the property that a func…

In the context of Synthetic Differential Geometry, we describe the square volume of a ``second-infinitesimal simplex'', in terms of square-distance between its vertices. The square-volume function thus described is symmetric in the vertices. The square-volume gives rise to a characterization of the volume form in the t…
