We prove that under certain combinatorial conditions, the realization spaces of line arrangements on the complex projective plane are connected. We also give several examples of arrangements with eight, nine and ten lines which have disconnected realization spaces.

We realize Stasheff's multiplihedron geometrically as the moduli space of stable quilted disks. This generalizes the geometric realization of the associahedron as the moduli space of stable disks. We show that this moduli space is the non-negative real part of a complex moduli space of stable scaled marked curves.
It is an open question (Pawlikowski) whether every finitely generated group can be realized as a fundamental group of a compact metric space. In this paper we prove that any countable group can be realized as the fundamental group of a compact subspace of four dimensional Euclidean space. According to theorems of Shela…
Neural network training is usually accomplished by solving a non-convex optimization problem using stochastic gradient descent. Although one optimizes over the networks parameters, the main loss function generally only depends on the realization of the neural network, i.e. the function it computes. Studying the optimiz…
Study on realizing subgroup twists in 3-manifolds.
We consider the following problem: given two parallel and identically oriented bundles of light rays in n-dimensional Euclidean space and given a diffeomorphism between the rays of the former bundle and the rays of the latter one, is it possible to realize this diffeomorphism by means of several mirror reflections? We …
The study realizes symmetric spaces as cotangent bundles and finds nonnegative curvature examples.
We study the 8 natural GL equivariant geometric realization questions for the space of generalized algebraic curvature tensors. All but one of them is solvable; a non-zero projectively flat Ricci antisymmetric generalized algebraic curvature is not geometrically realizable by a projectively flat Ricci antisymmetric tor…
Research explores hyperbolic space groups and their fundamental domains.
In this paper we generalize a result in [1], showing that an arbitrary Riemannian symmetric space can be realized as a closed submanifold of a covering group of the Lie group defining the symmetric space. Some properties of the subgroups of fixed points of involutions are also proved.
In this paper we give a realization of some symmetric space G/K as a closed submanifold P of G. We also give several equivalent representations of the submanifold P. Some properties of the set gK\cap P are also discussed, where gK is a coset space in G.
We introduce a class of k-potential submanifolds in pseudo-Euclidean spaces and prove that for an arbitrary positive integer k and an arbitrary nonnegative integer p, each N-dimensional Frobenius manifold can always be locally realized as an N-dimensional k-potential submanifold in ((k + 1) N + p)-dimensional pseudo-Eu…

Solves a problem related to classifying spaces for proper actions and Nielsen Realization.
We study Legendrian and transverse realizations of the negative torus knots in all contact structures on the -sphere. We give a complete classification of the strongly non-loose transverse realizations and the strongly non-loose Legendrian realizations with the Thurston-Bennequin invariant smaller than …
Synthetic proof shows globally hyperbolic Lorentzian spaces with specific curvature are warped products.
Given a closed surface endowed with a volume form, we equip the space of compatible Riemannian structures with the structure of an infinite-dimensional symplectic manifold. We show that the natural action of the group of volume-preserving diffeomorphisms by push-forward has a group-valued momentum map that assigns to a…
We show that each classical pseudoriemann symmetric space G/H can be realized as space of pairs of complementary subspaces in a linear space. For each classical symmetric space we construct an open embedding to a grassmannian or to a product of two grassmanianns. We also show that the representation of the group G in L…
Investigates conditions for GKM fiber bundles and realizability of fiber bundles of GKM graphs.
Abstraction and realization are bilateral processes that are key in deriving intelligence and creativity. In many domains, the two processes are approached through rules: high-level principles that reveal invariances within similar yet diverse examples. Under a probabilistic setting for discrete input spaces, we focus …
We determine the condition on a given lens space having a realization as a closure of homology cobordism over a planar surface with a given number of boundary components. As a corollary, we see that every lens space is represented as a closure of homology cobordism over a planar surface with three boundary components. …
In this paper, we consider formal series associated with events, profiles derived from events, and statistical models that make predictions about events. We prove theorems about realizations for these formal series using the language and tools of Hopf algebras.
The paper explores embedding Ricci flow solutions in flag manifolds.
Paper finds shortest geodesic paths on hyperbolic surfaces.
The problem of immersing a simply connected surface with a prescribed shape operator is discussed. From classical and more recent work, it is known that, aside from some special degenerate cases, such as when the shape operator can be realized by a surface with one family of principal curves being geodesic, the space o…
A linkage is a finite graph with lengths assigned to each edge. A planar realization is a map to the plane which preserves edge lengths. It can be thought of as a mechanical device formed from stiff rods and rotating joints. We look at the configuration space of all planar realizations of a linkage (following work of K…
The hyperbolic structure of equilateral pentagons is mapped to a tiling of the hyperbolic plane.
Constructs equivariant embeddings of Hermitian symmetric spaces into tangent spaces.
The spherical manifold realization problem asks which spherical three-manifolds arise from surgeries on knots in . In recent years, the realization problem for C, T, O, and I-type spherical manifolds has been solved, leaving the D-type manifolds (also known as the prism manifolds) as the only remaining case. Every…

New algorithms for interactive learning match minimax bounds efficiently.
This is a survey on two closely related subjects. First, we review the study of topological structure of `finite type' components of spaces of Bridgeland's stability conditions on triangulated categories. The key is to understand Happel-Reiten-Smalo tilting as tiling of cells. Second, we review topological realizations…
The paper calculates indices for families of Fredholm operators and their extensions.
This paper classifies topological symmetry groups for Petersen family graphs.
We initiate the study of classical knots through the homotopy class of the n-th evaluation map of the knot, which is the induced map on the compactified n-point configuration space. Sending a knot to its n-th evaluation map realizes the space of knots as a subspace of what we call the n-th mapping space model for knots…
D-branes on noncommutative spaces mimic string theory, offering new insights into mirror symmetry.
We show that the metrical connection can be introduced in the two-dimensional Finsler space such that entailed parallel transports along curves joining points of the underlying manifold keep the two-vector angle as well as the length of the tangent vector, thereby realizing isometries of tangent spaces under the parall…
The main goal of this paper is to give the first examples of equivariant aspherical Poincare complexes, that are not realized by group actions on closed aspherical manifolds . These will also provide new counterexamples to the Nielsen realization problem about lifting homotopy actions of finite groups to honest grou…
Theorems prove upper bounds for foliations on closed Alexandrov spaces.
We provide a simple algebraic construction of the twistor spaces of arbitrary Joyce's self-dual metrics on the 4-manifold H^2 x T^2 that extend smoothly to nCP^2, the connected sum of complex projective planes. Indeed, we explicitly realize projective models of the twistor spaces of arbitrary Joyce metrics on nCP^2 in …
A Poisson realization of the simple real Lie algebra on the phase space of each -Kepler problem is exhibited. As a consequence one obtains the Laplace-Runge-Lenz vector for each classical -Kepler problem. The verification of these Poisson realizations is greatly s…

New offline RL method works with limited data and function approximators.
Let be a closed, oriented manifold of dimension . Let be the space of smooth loops in . Chas and Sullivan recently defined a product on the homology of degree . They then investigated other structure that this product induces, including a Batalin -Vilkovisky structure, and a Lie algebra str…
This paper proves Hitchin moduli spaces are ALG gravitational instantons.
Multitriangulations, and more generally subword complexes, yield a large family of simplicial complexes that are homeomorphic to spheres. Until now, all attempts to prove or disprove that they can be realized as convex polytopes faced major obstacles. In this article, we lay out the foundations of a framework -- built …
