Study solves Ricci curvature problem for specific noncompact spaces.
Complete classification of symmetric spaces actions.
Since non-compact RCD(0, N) spaces have at least linear volume growth, we study noncompact RCD(0, N) spaces with linear volume growth in this paper. One of the main results is that the diameter of level sets of a Busemann function grow at most linearly on a noncompact RCD(0, N) space satisfying the linear volume growth…
The Lichnerowicz conjecture asserts that all harmonic manifolds are either flat or locally symmetric spaces of rank 1. This conjecture has been proved by Z.I. Szabo for harmonic manifolds with compact universal cover. E. Damek and F. Ricci provided examples showing that in the noncompact case the conjecture is wrong. H…
The paper proves uniqueness of Ricci flow on noncompact manifolds.
We propose a method to extend submanifolds, singular Riemannian foliations and isometric actions from a boundary component of a noncompact symmetric space to the whole space. This extension method preserves minimal submanifolds, isoparametric foliations and polar actions, among other properties. One of the several appl…
Noncompact RCD spaces with maximal first Betti number are rigid.
Avoids noncompact hypersurfaces from touching in evolving flows.
We prove that the isoperimetric constant is positive for all symmetric spaces of noncompact type and compute it explicitly.
We establish a new symmetrization procedure for the isoperimetric problem in symmetric spaces of noncompact type. This symmetrization generalizes the well known Steiner symmetrization in euclidean space. In contrast to the classical construction the symmetrized domain is obtained by solving a nonlinear elliptic equatio…

We calculate the volume entropy of local Hermitian symmetric spaces of noncompact type in terms of its invariant , , .
We prove the following vanishing theorem. Let M be an irreducible symmetric space of noncompact type whose dimension exceeds 2 and $M\ne SO_0(2,2)/SO(2)\tm SO(2).$ Let E be any vector bundle over M, Then any E-valued harmonic 1-form over M vanishes. In particular we get the vanishing theorem for harmonic maps fro…
An isometric action of a Lie group on a Riemannian manifold is of cohomogeneity one if the corresponding orbit space is one-dimensional. In this article we develop a conceptual approach to the classification of cohomogeneity one actions on Riemannian symmetric spaces of noncompact type in terms of orbit equivalence. As…
We classify, up to orbit equivalence, the cohomogeneity one actions on the noncompact duals of the symmetric spaces G_2, SU_3 and the real oriented two-plane Grassmannians.
New structural result classifies actions on symmetric spaces.
We find upper and lower bounds for the first eigenvalue and the volume entropy of a noncompact real analytic Kähler manifold, in terms of Calabi's diastasis function and diastatic entropy, which are sharp in the case of the complex hyperbolic space. As a corollary we obtain explicit lower bounds for the first eigenvalu…
In this paper, we generalize topological results known for noncompact manifolds with nonnegative Ricci curvature to spaces with nonnegative -Bakry Émery Ricci curvature. We study the Splitting Theorem and a property called the geodesic loops to infinity property in relation to spaces with nonnegative -Bakry Émery…
No breathers found for mean curvature flow in noncompact space.
Given a connected, compact, totally geodesic submanifold Y^m of noncompact type inside a compact locally symmetric space of noncompact type X^n, we provide a sufficient condition that ensures that [Y^m] is nonzero in H_m(X^n; R); in low dimensions, our condition is also necessary. We provide conditions under which ther…
In this survey article we provide an introduction to submanifold geometry in symmetric spaces of noncompact type. We focus on the construction of examples and the classification problems of homogeneous and isoparametric hypersurfaces, polar and hyperpolar actions, and homogeneous CPC submanifolds.
We show that a totally geodesic submanifold of a symmetric space satisfying certain conditions admits an extension to a minimal submanifold of dimension one higher, and we apply this result to construct new examples of complete embedded minimal submanifolds in simply connected noncompact globally symmetric spaces.
We obtain new examples of non-symmetric Einstein solvmanifolds by combining two techniques. In \cite{T2}, H. Tamaru constructs new {\em attached} solvmanifolds, which are submanifolds of the solvmanifolds corresponding to noncompact symmetric spaces, endowed with a natural metric. Extending this construction, we apply …
We prove a Hitchin-Thorpe inequality for noncompact Einstein 4-manifolds with asymptotic geometry at infinity. The asymptotic geometry at infinity is either a cusp bundle over a compact space (the fibered cusps) or a fiber bundle over a cone with a compact fiber (the fibered boundary). Many noncompact Einstein manifold…

We construct complete noncompact Riemannian metrics with -holonomy on noncompact orbifolds that are -bundles with the twistor space as a spherical fiber.
Cohomogeneity-one actions on symmetric spaces of mixed type
A foliation on a Riemannian manifold is hyperpolar if it admits a flat section, that is, a connected closed flat submanifold that intersects each leaf of the foliation orthogonally. In this article we classify the hyperpolar homogeneous foliations on every Riemannian symmetric space of noncompact type.
Optimizes heat equation estimates on noncompact manifolds.
Though Trudinger-Moser inequalities on compact Riemannian manifolds or Euclidean space are well understood, we know little about them on complete noncompact Riemannian manifolds. In this paper, we established respectively necessary condition and sufficient condition under which Trudinger-Moser inequalities hold on comp…
Study nonnegative solutions on Riemannian manifolds using fractional porous medium equation.
We give a definition of the fractional Laplacian on some noncompact manifolds, through an extension problem introduced by Caffarelli-Silvestre. While this definition in the compact case is straightforward, in the noncompact setting one needs to have a precise control of the behavior of the metric at infinity and geomet…

Complete Calabi-Yau metrics on abelian fibrations over complex space.
Asymptotic symmetries of the five dimensional noncompact symmetric space SL(3)/SO(3) are found to form an infinite dimensional Lie algebra, analogously to the asymptotic symmetries of anti-de Sitter spaces in two and three dimensions. Possible exact solvability of the corresponding Chern-Simons theory and the AdS/CFT c…

The paper classifies Toda equations for noncompact symmetric spaces and their solutions.
We obtain some nonexistence results for complete noncompact stable hyppersurfaces with nonnegative constant scalar curvature in Euclidean spaces. As a special case we prove that there is no complete noncompact strongly stable hypersurface in with zero scalar curvature , nonzero Gauss-Kronecker…

The paper solves the isoperimetric problem on noncompact metric spaces with lower Ricci bounds.
Let be a globally symmetric space of noncompact type, of arbitrary rank, and its Laplacian. We prove the existence of a meromorphic continuation of the resolvent $(Δ-\ev)^{-1}$ across the continuous spectrum to a Riemann surface multiply covering the plane. The methods are purely analytic and are adapted fr…
We prove a positive mass theorem for some noncompact spin manifolds that are asymptotic to products of hyperbolic space with a compact manifold. As conclusion we show the Yamabe inequality for some noncompact manifolds which are important to understand the behaviour of Yamabe invariants under surgeries.
