We give a complete calculation of the infinity flavor of Heegaard Floer homology with mod 2 coefficients for all three-manifolds and torsion Spin^c structures. The computation agrees with the conjectured calculation of Ozsvath and Szabo. This therefore establishes an isomorphism with Mark's cup homology mod 2.
Formula for computing triple-cup product from Heegaard diagrams of 3-manifolds.
We show that the bar version of the -monopole Floer homology of a three-manifold equipped with a self-conjugate spin structure is determined by the triple cup product of together with the Rokhlin invariants of the spin structures inducing . This is a manifestati…
Given a representation of a link group, we introduce a trilinear form, as a topological invariant. We show that, if the link is either hyperbolic or a knot with malnormality, then the trilinear form equals the pairing of the (twisted) triple cup product and the fundamental relative 3-class. Further, we give some exampl…
This is the first in a series of papers exploring the relationship between the Rohlin invariant and gauge theory. We discuss the Casson-type invariant of a 3-manifold with the integral homology of a torus, given by counting projectively flat connections. We show that its mod 2 evaluation is given by the triple cup prod…
Uniform criterion for vanishing products in bounded cohomology.
We introduce mod 3 triple Milnor invariants and triple cubic residue symbols for certain primes of the Eisenstein number field , following the analogies between knots and primes. Our triple symbol generalizes both the cubic residue symbol and Rédei's triple symbol, and describes the decomposition…
Ozsvath and Szabo construct a spectral sequence with E_2 term Λ^*(H^1(Y;Z))\otimes Z[U,U^{-1}] converging to HF^\infty(Y,s) for a torsion Spin^c structure s. They conjecture that the differentials are completely determined by the integral triple cup product form via a proposed formula. In this paper, we prove that HF^\…
Triple linking numbers were defined for 3-component oriented surface-links in 4-space using signed triple points on projections in 3-space. In this paper we give an algebraic formulation using intersections of homology classes (or cup products on cohomology groups). We prove that spherical links have trivial triple lin…
We show that the mod 2 Seiberg-Witten invariant can be determined for a spin manifold X which has the same homology groups as the 4-torus. The value depends on the structure of the cohomology ring of X, and in particular on the 4-fold cup product on H^1(X). We also consider some examples of homology tori.
In this paper we prove a family of results connecting the problem of computing cup products in surface bundles to various other objects that appear in the theory of the cohomology of the mapping class group and the Torelli group . We show that N. Kawazumi's twisted MMM class $m_{0,…
We compute cup product pairings in the integral cohomology ring of the moduli space of rank two stable bundles with odd determinant over a Riemann surface using methods of Zagier. The resulting formula is related to a generating function for certain skew Schur polynomials. As an application, we compute the nilpotency d…
We construct closed -connected manifolds of dimensions that possess non-trivial rational Massey triple products. We also construct examples of manifolds such that all the cup-products of elements of vanish, while the group $H^{3k-1}(M;\Q)$ is generated by Massey products: such examples ar…
We construct a compact simply-connected 7-dimensional manifold admitting a K-contact structure but not a Sasakian structure. We also study rational homotopy properties of such manifolds, proving in particular that a simply-connected 7-dimensional Sasakian manifold has vanishing cup-product on the second cohomology and …
A new method using mod n covering improves systolic inequalities.
Let be a surface bundle over a surface with monodromy representation contained in the Torelli group . In this paper we express the cup product structure in in terms of the Johnson homomorphism $τ: \mathcal{I}_g \to \wedge^3…
Study cup products on CAT(0) cube complexes, proving quasimorphisms' vanishing results.
We develop functoriality for Morse theory, namely, to a pair of Morse-Smale systems and a generic smooth map between the underlying manifolds we associate a chain map between the corresponding Morse complexes, which descends to the correct map on homology. This association does not in general respect composition. We gi…

Computes monopole Floer homology for three-manifolds.
Knots and links in 3-manifolds are studied by applying intersection invariants to singular concordances. The resulting link invariants generalize the Arf invariant, the mod 2 Sato-Levine invariants, and Milnor's triple linking numbers. Besides fitting into a general theory of Whitney towers, these invariants provide ob…
If F is a family of mod 2 flat k-cycles in the unit n-ball, we lower bound the maximal volume of any cycle in F in terms of the homology class of F in the space of all cycles. We give examples to show that these lower bounds are fairly sharp.
Researchers create spectral triples for twisted crossed products using Kasparov's external product.
Study shows exact forms in bounded cohomology are in radical of cup product.
We construct cup and cap products in intersection (co)homology with field coefficients. The existence of the cap product allows us to give a new proof of Poincare duality in intersection (co)homology which is similar in spirit to the usual proof for ordinary (co)homology of manifolds.
We prove the vanishing of the cup product of the bounded cohomology classes associated to any two Brooks quasimorphisms on the free group. This is a consequence of the vanishing of the square of a universal class for tree automorphism groups.
Geometrically interprets cup products and defines combinatorial Pin structures.
Let be a finite group. Noncommutative geometry of unital -algebras is studied. A geometric structure is determined by a spectral triple on the crossed product algebra associated with the group action. This structure is to be viewed as a representative of a noncommutative orbifold. Based on a study of classical o…
Let be a closed, orientable, monotone Lagrangian 3-manifold of a symplectic manifold , for which there exists a local system such that the corresponding Lagrangian quantum homology vanishes. We show that its cohomology ring satisfies a certain dichotomy, which depends only on the parity of the first Betti n…
Homotopy on nanophrases is an equivalence relation defined using some data called a homotopy data triple. We define a product on homotopy data triples. We show that any homotopy data triple can be factorized into a product of prime homotopy data triples and this factorization is unique up to isomorphism and order. If a…

Legendrian contact homology (LCH) and its associated differential graded algebra are powerful non-classical invariants of Legendrian knots. Linearization makes the LCH computationally tractable at the expense of discarding nonlinear (and noncommutative) information. To recover some of the nonlinear information while pr…

We study the spectral sequence associated to the filtration by powers of the augmentation ideal on the (twisted) equivariant chain complex of the universal cover of a connected CW-complex X. In the process, we identify the d^1 differential in terms of the coalgebra structure of H_*(X,\k), and the \kπ_1(X)-module struct…
Trivial Massey product in specific cohomology groups.
We generalize basic results relating the associated graded Lie algebra and the holonomy Lie algebra from finitely presented, commutator-relators groups to arbitrary finitely presented groups. In the process, we give an explicit formula for the cup-product in the cohomology of a finite 2-complex, and an algorithm for co…
