We consider the following problem: for which classes of finite groups, and in particular finite simple groups, does the minimal dimension of a faithful, smooth action on a homology sphere coincide with the minimal dimension of a faithful, linear action on a sphere? We prove that the two minimal dimensions coincide for …
Study minimal Lagrangian tori on Kähler manifolds, answering questions about their existence and stability.
We give examples of certain kind of minimal orbits of Hermann actions and discuss whether each of the examples is austere.
New EZ-structure maps mapping class group actions.
Study on actions on symmetric spaces, focusing on orbit properties.
Ellipsoids host infinitely many minimal tori, bifurcating from a 2-torus orbit.
Estimation of importance sampling weights for off-policy evaluation of contextual bandits often results in imbalance - a mismatch between the desired and the actual distribution of state-action pairs after weighting. In this work we present balanced off-policy evaluation (B-OPE), a generic method for estimating weights…
Let $Φ\colon \sbat \times M \to M$ be a smooth action of the unit circle $ \sbat$ on a manifold . In this work, we compute the minimal model of in terms of the orbit space and the fixed point set , as a dg-module over the Sullivan's minimal model of .
New method minimizes decision errors in large treatment spaces.
In this paper we use structure preserving torus actions on Kahler-Einstein manifolds to construct minimal Lagrangian submanifolds. Our main result is: Let N^2n be a Kahler-Einstein manifold with positive scalar curvature with an effective T^n-action. Then precisely one regular orbit L of the T-action is a minimal Lagra…

Minimal sphere dimension for equivariant embedding of circles.
We prove several new results concerning action minimizing periodic orbits of Tonelli Lagrangian systems on an oriented closed surface . More specifically, we show that for every energy larger than the maximal energy of a constant orbit and smaller than or equal to the Mañé critical value of the universal abelian cov…
The paper finds local minimizers for obstacle avoidance on curved spaces.
We study isometric actions of finitely presented groups on -trees. In this paper, we develop a relative version of the Rips machine to study of such actions. An important example of a is a group action on an -tree and a subgroup action on its minimal invariant su…
We consider the reduced Allen-Cahn action functional, which appears as the sharp interface limit of the Allen-Cahn action functional and can be understood as a formal action functional for a stochastically perturbed mean curvature flow. For suitable evolutions of generalized hypersurfaces this functional consists of th…
We enhance conformal prediction for risk-averse decisions with action-conditional guarantees.
We study partition functions of random Bergman metrics, with the actions defined by a class of geometric functionals known as `stability functions'. We introduce a new stability invariant - the critical value of the coupling constant - defined as the minimal coupling constant for which the partition function converges.…
Interpretable explanations for recommender systems and other machine learning models are crucial to gain user trust. Prior works that have focused on paths connecting users and items in a heterogeneous network have several limitations, such as discovering relationships rather than true explanations, or disregarding oth…
New minimal hypersurfaces in 4D sphere found.
New algorithm reduces regret by focusing on near-optimal actions.
We show that integration over a -manifold can be reduced to integration over a minimal section with respect to an induced weighted measure and integration over a homogeneous space . We relate our formula to integration formulae for polar actions and calculate some weight functions. In case of a compact …
New bound for group action length without diameter restriction.
The action dimension of a group G is the minimal dimension of a contractible manifold that G acts on properly discontinuously. We show that if G acts properly and cocompactly on a thick Euclidean building, then the action dimension is bounded below by twice the dimension of the building. We also compute the action dime…
In this paper a study of -minimality, i.e., minimality of four-manifolds equipped with an action of a finite group , is initiated. We focus on cyclic actions on , and our work shows that even in this simple setting, the comparison of -minimality in the various categories, i.e., locally …
In this paper, we consider a best action identification problem in the stochastic linear bandit setup with a fixed confident constraint. In the considered best action identification problem, instead of minimizing the accumulative regret as done in existing works, the learner aims to obtain an accurate estimate of the u…
Let be a Fano manifold equipped with a Kähler form and a connected compact Lie group acting on as holomorphic isometries. In this paper, we show the minimality of a -invariant Lagrangian submanifold in w.r.t. a globally conformal Kähler metric is equivalent to the minimality of th…
We compute the Euler-Poincaré characteristic of the homogeneous compact manifolds that can be described as minimal orbits for the action of a real form in a complex flag manifold.
Minimal surfaces with symmetries exist under certain group actions.
The paper studies minimal surfaces in complex hyperbolic spaces, showing moduli space connected components.
Given a uniform foliation by Gromov hyperbolic leaves on a -manifold, we show that the action of the fundamental group on the universal circle is minimal and transitive on pairs of different points. We also prove two other results: we prove that general uniform Reebless foliations are -covered and we giv…
The principal group of a Klein geometry has canonical left action on the homogeneous space of the geometry and this action induces action on the spaces of sections of vector bundles over the homogeneous space. This paper is about construction of differential operators invariant with respect to the induced action of the…
Let denote the mapping class group of the plane minus a Cantor set. We show that every action of on the circle is either trivial or semi-conjugate to a unique minimal action on the so-called simple circle.

A new method combines online and offline learning to tackle contextual bandits with missing action support.
Study rigidifies Einstein manifolds with symmetry, proving conjecture.
We solve a certain case of the minimal genus problem for embedded surfaces in elliptic 4-manifolds. The proofs involve a restricted transitivity property of the action of the orientation preserving diffeomorphism group on the second homology. In the case we consider we get the minimal possible genus allowed by the adju…
We extend the techniques of [CH] to build an inductive procedure for studying actions in the boundary of the Culler-Vogtmann Outer Space, the main novelty being an adaptation of he classical Rauzy-Veech induction for studying actions of surface type. As an application, we prove that a tree in the boundary of Outer spac…
A study on the relation between the smooth structure of a symplectic homotopy K3 surface and its symplectic symmetries is initiated. A measurement of exoticness of a symplectic homotopy K3 surface is introduced, and the influence of an effective action of a K3 group via symplectic symmetries is investigated. It is show…
We introduce a class of regularisable infinite dimensional principal fibre bundles which includes fibre bundles arising in gauge field theories like Yang-Mills and string theory and which generalise finite dimensional Riemannian principal fibre bundles induced by an isometric action. We show that the orbits of regulari…
The purpose of this short note is to prove the uniqueness of Hamiltonian volume minimizing Lagrangian submanifolds which are Hamiltonian isotopic to RP^n in CP^n modulo isometric group actions.
New algorithm minimizes regret in multi-armed bandits with network interference.
In our book on cohomological methods in transformation groups the minimal Hirsch-Brown model was used to good effect. The construction there, however, was rather abstract. Here, for smooth compact connected Lie group actions on smooth closed manifolds, we give a much more explicit construction of the minmal Hirsch-Brow…
