Defines compatibility between Jacobi structures and pseudo-Riemannian metrics on Jacobi algebroids.
We disprove the generalized Chern-Hamilton conjecture on the existence of critical compatible metrics on contact -manifolds. More precisely, we show that a contact -manifold admits a critical compatible metric for the Chern-Hamilton energy functional if and only if it is Sasakian or its associated Reeb fl…
A linear connection on a Finsler manifold is called compatible to the metric if its parallel transports preserve the Finslerian length of tangent vectors. Generalized Berwald manifolds are Finsler manifolds equipped with a compatible linear connection. Since the compatibility to the Finslerian metric does not imply the…

The study describes metrics geodesically compatible with Nijenhuis operators and their applications to integrable systems.

Proves conjecture about compatible SKT and balanced metrics on compact solvmanifolds.
New contact structures on spheres and tori with weakly compatible metrics.
The notion of Poisson manifold with compatible pseudo-metric was introduced by the author in [1]. In this paper, we introduce a new class of Lie algebras which we call a pseudo-Rieamannian Lie algebras. The two notions are strongly related: we prove that a linear Poisson structure on the dual of a Lie algebra has a com…
In this Note, we will characterize the Poisson structures compatible with the canonical metric of $\reel^3$. We will also give some relvant examples of such structures. The notion of compatibility used in this Note was introduced and studied by the author in previous papers.
Let (N,J) be a real 2n-dimensional nilpotent Lie group endowed with an invariant complex structure. A left-invariant Riemannian metric on N compatible with J is said to be minimal, if it minimizes the norm of the invariant part of the Ricci tensor among all compatible metrics on (N,J) with the same scalar curvature. In…
We solve the problem of description for nonsingular pairs of compatible flat metrics in the general N-component case. The integrable nonlinear partial differential equations describing all nonsingular pairs of compatible flat metrics (or, in other words, nonsingular flat pencils of metrics) are found and integrated. Th…
New maximal families of compatible Poisson structures derived from geodesically equivalent metrics.
We deal with the problem of description of nonsingular pairs of compatible flat metrics for the general -component case. We describe the scheme of the integrating the nonlinear equations describing nonsingular pairs of compatible flat metrics (or, in other words, nonsingular flat pencils of metrics). It is based on …
Researchers create compatibility complexes for Einstein metrics.
Classifies connections on Galilei manifolds, generalizing known results.
Deformations of the Reeb flow of a Sasakian manifold as transversely Kähler flows may not admit compatible Sasakian metrics anymore. We show that the triviality of the (0,2)-component of the basic Euler class characterizes the existence of compatible Sasakian metrics for given small deformations of the Reeb flow as tra…
Study harmonic metrics on Higgs bundles on non-compact Riemann surfaces.
The paper classifies cosymplectic manifolds with critical metrics in dimension 3.
We develop the formalism for noncommutative differential geometry and Riemmannian geometry to take full account of the *-algebra structure on the (possibly noncommutative) coordinate ring and the bimodule structure on the differential forms. We show that *-compatible bimodule connections lead to braid operators in …
We discuss and investigate the problem of existence of metric-compatible linear connections for a given space-time metric which is, generally, assumed to be semi-pseudo-Riemannian. We prove that under sufficiently general conditions such connections exist iff the rank and signature of the metric are constant. On this b…
The construction of gauge theories beyond the realm of Lie groups and algebras leads one to consider Lie groupoids and algebroids equipped with additional geometrical structures which, for gauge invariance of the construction, need to satisfy particular compatibility conditions. This paper analyzes these compatibilitie…
Study compatible and associated metrics for contact-symplectic structures, showing geodesic integral curves and minimal leaf properties.
We will introduce two notions of compatibility bettwen pseudo-Riemannian metric and Poisson structure using the notion of contravariant connection introduced by Fernandes R. L., we will study some proprities of manifold endowed with such compatible structures an we will give some examples.
This paper, sixth in a series of eight, uses the geometric calculus on manifolds developed in previous papers of the series to introduce through the concept of a metric extensor field g a metric structure for a smooth manifold M. The associated Christoffel operators, a notable decomposition of that object and the assoc…
On a 4-dimensional compact symplectic manifold, we consider a smooth family of compatible almost-complex structures such that at time zero the induced metric is Hermite-Einstein almost-Kähler metric with zero or negative Hermitian scalar curvature. We prove, under certain hypothesis, the existence of a smooth family of…
We prove that the description of pencils of compatible (N x N)-metrics of constant Riemannian curvature is equivalent to a special class of integrable N-parametric deformations of quasi-Frobenius (in general, noncommutative) algebras.
I do not agree with the authors of papers arXiv:0806.2184 and arXiv:0901.1023v1 (published in Phys. Lett., respectively, B668 (2008) 453 and B676 (2009) 173). They consider that \textit{"In Finsler manifold, there exists a unique linear connection - the Chern connection ... It is torsion freeness and metric compatibili…
Study shows compact Vaisman manifolds cannot have certain special Hermitian metrics.
It is shown that the existence of an -compatible Einstein metric on a compact symplectic manifold imposes certain restrictions on the symplectic Chern numbers. Examples of symplectic manifolds which do not satisfy these restrictions are given. The results offer partial support to a conjecture of Goldberg.
Let N be a nilpotent Lie group and let S be an invariant geometric structure on N (cf. symplectic, complex or hypercomplex). We define a left invariant Riemannian metric on N compatible with S to be "minimal", if it minimizes the norm of the invariant part of the Ricci tensor among all compatible metrics with the same …
Given a flat metric one may generate a local Hamiltonian structure via the fundamental result of Dubrovin and Novikov. More generally, a flat pencil of metrics will generate a local bi-Hamiltonian structure, and with additional quasi-homogeneity conditions one obtains the structure of a Frobenius manifold. With appropr…
We study compatible toric Sasaki metrics with constant scalar curvature on co-oriented compact toric contact manifolds of Reeb type of dimension at least 5. These metrics come in rays of transversal homothety due to the possible rescaling of the Reeb vector fields. We prove that there exist Reeb vector fields for which…
Study locally conformally balanced metrics on specific Lie algebras.
The nonlinear equations describing all the nonsingular pencils of metrics of constant Riemannian curvature are derived and the integrability of these nonlinear equations by the method of inverse scattering problem is proved. It is proved that all the nonsingular pairs of compatible metrics of constant Riemannian curvat…
Given a path of almost-Kähler metrics compatible with a fixed symplectic form on a compact 4-manifold such that at time zero the almost-Kähler metric is an extremal Kähler one, we prove, for a short time and under a certain hypothesis, the existence of a smooth family of extremal almost-Kähler metrics compatible with t…
Let (M,g) be a Riemannian 4-manifold. The twistor space Z->M is a CP1-bundle whose total space Z admits a natural metric h. The aim of this article is to study properties of complex structures on (Z,h) which are compatible with the CP1-fibration and the metric h. The results obtained enable us to translate some metric …
We formulate an approach to the geometry of Riemann-Cartan spaces provided with nonholonomic distributions defined by generic off-diagonal and nonsymmetric metrics inducing effective nonlinear and affine connections. Such geometries can be modelled by moving nonholonomic frames on (pseudo) Riemannian manifolds and desc…
We solve the problem of reducing to the simplest and convenient for our purposes, canonical form for an arbitrary pair of compatible nonlocal Poisson brackets of hydrodynamic type generated by metrics of constant Riemannian curvature in order to get an effective construction of the integrable hierarchies related to all…
The conjecture of D.Blair says that there are no nonflat Riemannian metrics of nonpositive curvature compatible with a contact structure. We prove this conjecture for a certain class of contact structures on closed 3-dimensional manifolds and construct a local counterexample. We also prove that a hyperbolic metric on $…
Generalized Berwald manifolds are Finsler manifolds admitting linear connections such that the parallel transports preserve the Finslerian length of tangent vectors (compatibi\-li\-ty condition). By the fundamental result of the theory \cite{V5} such a linear connection must be metrical with respect to the averaged Rie…
In this paper we study the foliated structure of a contact metric -space. In particular, using the theory of Legendre foliations, we give a geometric interpretation to the Boeckx's classification of contact metric -spaces and we find necessary conditions for a contact manifold to admit a compatible contac…
New approach connects Finsler geometry's metric and connections.
In the literature different concepts of compatibility between a projective structure and a conformal structure on a differentiable manifold are used. In particular compatibility in the sense of Weyl geometry is slightly more general than compatibility in the Riemannian sense. An often cited paper [Ehlers-Pirani-Schild:…
Develops Riemannian geometry for noncommutative super surfaces.
The nonlinear equations for the general nonsingular pairs of compatible nonlocal Poisson brackets of hydrodynamic type are derived and the integrability of these equations by the method of inverse scattering problem is proved. For these equations, the Lax pairs with a spectral parameter are presented. Moreover, we demo…
