We investigate the homogeneity of certain kind of slices of the complete complexification of a proper complex equifocal submanifold in a symmetric space of non-compact type.
Let G/H be a strongly regular homogeneous space such that H is a Lie group of inner type. We show that G/H admits a proper action of a discrete non-virtually abelian subgroup of G if and only if G/H admits a proper action of a subgroup L of G locally isomorphic to SL(2,R). We classify all such spaces.
In this paper, we show that an irreducible proper complex equifocal submanifold of codimension greater than one in a symmetric space of non-compact type. The proof is performed by showing the homogeneity of the lift of the complexification of the original submanifold to some infinite dimensional anti-Kahelerian space.

The paper constructs biharmonic maps between spheres using polynomial maps.
We establish several characterizations of Anosov representations of word hyperbolic groups into real reductive Lie groups, in terms of a Cartan projection or Lyapunov projection of the Lie group. Using a properness criterion of Benoist and Kobayashi, we derive applications to proper actions on homogeneous spaces of red…
Study index theory on Lie group homogeneous spaces using topological and analytic methods.
It is shown that a locally homogeneous proper Ricci almost soliton is either of constant sectional curvature or a product , where is a space of constant curvature.
Sharpness of actions on reductive homogeneous spaces proven for various groups.
We classify all proper-biharmonic Legendre curves in a Sasakian space form and point out some of their geometric properties. Then we provide a method for constructing anti-invariant proper-biharmonic submanifolds in Sasakian space forms. Finally, using the Boothby-Wang fibration, we determine all proper-biharmonic Hopf…
The study explores deformations of standard locally homogeneous spaces.
In the study of discontinuous groups for non-Riemannian homogeneous spaces, the idea of "continuous analogue" gives a powerful method (T. Kobayashi [Math. Ann. 1989]). For example, a semisimple symmetric space G/H admits a discontinuous group which is not virtually abelian if and only if G/H admits a proper SL(2,R)-act…
We present examples, both compact and non-compact complete, of lo- cally non-homogeneous proper A-manifolds.

The paper explores proper actions and their relation to representation theory, with new quantitative methods.
In this paper, we study the backward Ricci flow on locally homogeneous 3-manifolds. We describe the long time behavior and show that, typically and after a proper re-scaling, there is convergence to a sub-Riemannian geometry. A similar behavior was observed by the authors in the case of the cross curvature flow.
In this paper, we investigate a curvature-adapted and proper complex equifocal submanifold in a symmetric space of non-compact type. The class of these submanifolds contains principal orbits of Hermann type actions as homogeneous examples. In future, the results in this paper will be used to give a submanifold geometri…
We prove that two homogeneous ultra-metric spaces are coarsely equivalent if and only if where is the so-called sharp entropy of . This classification implies that each homogeneous proper ultra-metric space is coarsely equivalent to the a…
The nonzero level sets of a homogeneous, logarithmically homogeneous, or translationally homogeneous function are affine spheres if and only if the Hessian determinant of the function is a multiple of a power or an exponential of the function. In particular, the nonzero level sets of a homogeneous polynomial are proper…
Study extends Kobayashi's method to non-reductive subgroups for homogeneous spaces.
Study classifies triharmonic surfaces in 3D homogeneous spaces.
We construct homogeneous flat pseudo-Riemannian manifolds with non-abelian fundamental group. In the compact case, all homogeneous flat pseudo-Riemannian manifolds are complete and have abelian linear holonomy group. To the contrary, we show that there do exist non-compact and non-complete examples, where the linear ho…
We prove that a four-dimensional Lorentzian manifold that is curvature homogeneous of order 3, or CH_3 for short, is necessarily locally homogeneous. We also exhibit and classify four-dimensional Lorentzian, CH_2 manifolds that are not homogeneous. The resulting metrics belong to the class of null electromagnetic radia…
The paper introduces new uniformity and homogeneity concepts for Cosserat media.
We prove that every Kaehler solvmanifold has a finite covering whose holomorphic reduction is a principal bundle. An example is given that illustrates the necessity, in general, of passing to a proper covering. We also answer a stronger version of a question posed by Akhiezer for homogeneous spaces of nonsolvable algeb…
New domains of discontinuity found for Anosov representations.
The paper explores conformal groups on plane waves and proves a conjecture in locally homogeneous settings.
It is well known that every compact simple Lie group G admits an Einstein metric that is invariant under the independent left and right actions of G. In addition to this bi-invariant metric, with G x G symmetry, it was shown by D'Atri and Ziller that every compact simple Lie group except SU(2) and SO(3) admits at least…
Our aim is to support the choice of two remarkable connections with torsion in a 3-Sasakian manifold, proving that, in contrast to the Levi-Civita connection, the holonomy group in the homogeneous cases reduces to a proper subgroup of the special orthogonal group, of dimension considerably smaller. We realize the compu…
New proof of Kobayashi's properness criterion using metric geometry.
The authors give a short survey of previous results on -homogeneous Riemannian manifolds, forming a new proper subclass of geodesic orbit spaces with non-negative sectional curvature, which properly includes the class of all normal homogeneous Riemannian manifolds. As a continuation and an application of these resul…
Reduces proper actions to simpler core actions for analysis.
We present a new simple proof of the fact that certain group manifolds as well as certain homogeneous spaces G/H of dimension 4n admit a quaternionic triple of integrable complex structures that are covariantly constant with respect to the same torsionful Bismut connection, i.e. exhibit the HKT geometry. The key observ…
In this paper we obtain height estimates for compact, constant mean curvature vertical graphs in the homogeneous spaces and . As a straightforward consequence, we announce a structure-type result for proper graphs defined on relatively compact domains.
Study eigenvalues of Laplace operator on specific 3D manifolds under Ricci flow.
Given a quaternionic manifold with a certain -symmetry, we construct a hypercomplex manifold of the same dimension. This construction generalizes the quaternionic Kähler/hyper-Kähler-correspondence. As an example of this construction, we obtain a compact homogeneous hypercomplex manifold which d…
Study on minimal surfaces in a specific homogeneous space with non-existence and construction results.
In this note, we show that a nontrivial, compact, degenerate or nondegenerate, gradient Einstein-type manifold of constant scalar curvature is isometric to the standard sphere with a well defined potential function. Moreover, under some geometric assumptions, the noncompact case is also treated. In this case, the main …
We prove that a maximal totally complex submanifold of the quaternionic projective space () is a parallel submanifold, provided one of the following conditions is satisfied: (1) is the orbit of a compact Lie group of isometries, (2) the restricted normal holonomy is a prop…
In this paper, we study the evolving behaviors of the first eigenvalue of Laplace-Beltrami operator under the normalized backward Ricci flow, construct various quantities which are monotonic under the backward Ricci flow and get upper and lower bounds. We prove that in cases where the backward Ricci flow converges to a…
We consider the evolution of a compact segment of an analytic curve on the unit tangent bundle of a finite volume hyperbolic -manifold under the geodesic flow. Suppose that the curve is not contained in a stable leaf of the flow. It is shown that under the geodesic flow, the normalized parameter measure on the curve…
Effective estimates for lattice orbits in homogeneous spaces.
Four constructions of Seifert surfaces - Hopf plumbing, arborescent plumbing, basketry, and T-bandword handle decomposition - are described, and some interrelationships found, e.g.: arborescent Seifert surfaces are baskets; Hopf-plumbed baskets are precisely homogeneous T-bandword surfaces. A Seifert surface is Hopf-pl…
The space of invariant affine connections on every -Sasakian homogeneous manifold of dimension at least is described. In particular, the remarkable subspaces of invariant affine metric connections, and the subclass with skew-torsion, are also determined. To this aim, an explicit construction of all -Sasakian …
