Submanifolds of coordinate finite-type were introduced in HV1. A submanifold of a Euclidean space is called a coordinate finite-type submanifold if its coordinate functions are eigenfunctions of Δ. In the present study we consider coordinate finite-type surfaces in E^4. We give necessary and sufficient conditions for g…

Characterizes monodromies of projective structures on finite-type surfaces.
This study defines finite-type invariants for curves on surfaces and reveals the construction of these finite-type invariants for stable homeomorphism classes of curves on compact oriented surfaces without boundaries. These invariants are a higher-order generalisation of a part of Arnold's invariants that are first-ord…
Study on compact and finite-type support in mapping class group homology.
Extending our previous work on eigenvalues of closed surfaces and work of Otal and Rosas, we show that a complete Riemannian surface S of finite type and negative Euler characteristic has at most negative of the Euler characteristics many small eigenvalues.
The aim of this survey is to give an overview on the geometry of Einstein maximal globally hyperbolic 2+1 spacetimes of arbitrary curvature, conatining a complete Cauchy surface of finite type. In particular a specialization to the finite type case of the canonicla Wick rotation-rescaling theory, previously developed b…
Finite rigid sets found in complex of curves for surfaces.
In this paper, we study the Lorentzian minimal surfaces in the Minkowski space-time with finite type Gauss map. First, we obtain the classification of this type of surfaces with pointwise 1-type Gauss map. Then, we proved that there are no Lorentzian minimal surface in the Minkowski space-time with null 2-type Gauss ma…
We prove that there is no functorial universal finite type invariant for braids in if the genus of is positive.
For a hyperbolic surface S of finite type we consider the set A(S) of angles between closed geodesics on S. Our main result is that there are only finitely many rational multiples of πin A(S).
We describe infinitesimal deformations of constant mean curvature surfaces of finite type in the 3-sphere. We use Baker-Akhiezer functions to describe such deformations, as well as polynomial Killing fields and the corresponding spectral curve to distinguish between isospectral and non-isospectral deformations.
A maximal surface $\sb$ with isolated singularities in a complete flat Lorentzian 3-manifold is said to be entire if it lifts to a (periodic) entire multigraph $\tilde{\sb}$ in In addition, $\sb$ is called of finite type if it has finite topology, finitely many singular points and $\tilde{\sb}$ is finitely …
We define a new finite type invariant for stably homeomorphic class of curves on compact oriented surfaces without boundaries and extend to a regular homotopy invariant for spherical curves.
We present and prove a topological characterization of geodesic laminations on hyperbolic surfaces of finite type.
Uniform hyperbolicity proved for nonorientable surface curve graphs.
We give a proof of the Neilsen-Thurston classification theorem of a homeomorphism f of a standard surface of finite type as either periodic, pseudo-Anosov, or reducible. In the periodic case, we show that there exists an integer n>0 such that f is isotopic to h with h^n isotopic to the identity. This is the weaker vers…
For , a finite-type -surface in -dimensional hyperbolic space is a complete, immersed surface of finite area and of constant extrinsic curvature equal to . In [32], we showed that such surfaces have finite genus and finitely many cusp-like ends. Each of these cusps is asymptotic to an immersed cylinder …
Paper constructs hyperbolic metrics using circle packings and curvature parameters.
In this paper, on the first, we prove where is the Laplacian operator, the position vector field and is the mean curvature vector field of a surface in the 3-dimensional Heisenberg group In the second, we classify the ruled surfaces by straight…
New coefficient detects irrational rotation behavior on infinite-type surfaces.
In this paper we describe the notion of an annular end of a Riemann surface being of finite type with respect to some harmonic function and prove some theoretical results relating the conformal structure of such an annular end to the level sets of the harmonic function. We then apply these results to understand and cha…
We give a proof of an unpublished result of Thurston showing that given any hyperbolic metric on a surface of finite type with nonempty boundary, there exists another hyperbolic metric on the same surface for which the lengths of all simple closed geodesics are shorter. (This is not possible for surfaces of finite type…
In this article, we continue the classification of finite type Gauss map surfaces in the Euclidean 3-space E3 with respect to the first fundamental form by studying a subclass of tubes, namely the anchor rings. We show that anchor rings are of infinite type Gauss map.
We show that one-sided Alexandrov embedded constant mean curvature cylinders of finite type in the 3-sphere are surfaces of revolution. This confirms a conjecture by Pinkall and Sterling that the only embedded constant mean curvature tori in the 3-sphere are rotational.
In the study of the relation between the mapping class group M of a surface and the theory of finite-type invariants of homology 3-spheres, three subgroups of the mapping class group play a large role. They are the Torelli group, the Johnson subgroup K and a new subgroup L, which contains K, defined by a choice of a La…
Study of flip graphs and their automorphism groups for infinite-type surfaces.
This thesis introduces big mapping class groups and their structure.
Cyclotomic polynomials help classify mapping classes on surfaces.
We determine which connected surfaces can be partitioned into topological circles. There are exactly seven such surfaces up to homeomorphism: those of finite type, of Euler characteristic zero, and with compact boundary components. As a byproduct, we get that any circle decomposition of a surface is upper semicontinuou…
New theory maps spin structures on surfaces, generating key elements.
Minimal geodesics on hyperbolic surfaces are long.
The mapping class group of a non-exceptional oriented surface of finite type admits a biautomatic structure.
We investigate a type of distance between triangulations on finite type surfaces where one moves between triangulations by performing simultaneous flips. We consider triangulations up to homeomorphism and our main results are upper bounds on distance between triangulations that only depend on the topology of the surfac…
Study classifies mapping class groups with hyperbolic actions on infinite-type surfaces.
We show that the mapping class group of an orientable finite type surface has uniformly exponential growth, as well as various closely related groups. This provides further evidence that mapping class groups may be linear.
We consider surfaces of revolution in the three-dimensional Euclidean space which are of coordinate finite type with respect to the third fundamental form. We show that a surface of revolution satisfying the preceding relation is a catenoid or part of a sphere.
For every n-component ribbon link L we prove that the Jones polynomial V(L) is divisible by the polynomial V(O^n) of the trivial link. This integrality property allows us to define a generalized determinant det V(L) := [V(L)/V(O^n)]_(t=-1), for which we derive congruences reminiscent of the Arf invariant: every ribbon …
We investigate CMC-surfaces with periodic metric in a dressing orbit of the cylinder. It is shown, that such surfaces are always of finite type. Using the periodicity conditions for the extended frame of a CMC-surface, we develop an alternative approach to the classification of CMC-tori given by Pinkall and Sterling.
There are several Teichmüller spaces associated to a surface of infinite topological type, after the choice of a particular basepoint (a complex or a hyperbolic structure on the surface). These spaces include the quasiconformal Teichmüller space, the length spectrum Teichmüller space, the Fenchel-Nielsen Teichmüller sp…
For a certain class of compact oriented 3-manifolds, M. Goussarov and K. Habiro have conjectured that the information carried by finite-type invariants should be characterized in terms of ``cut-and-paste'' operations defined by the lower central series of the Torelli group of a surface. In this paper, we observe that t…
We show that the center of the Goldman algebra associated to a closed oriented hyperbolic surface is trivial. For a hyperbolic surface of finite type with nonempty boundary, the center consists of closed curves which are homotopic to boundary components or punctures.

We investigate some relations concerning the first and the second Beltrami operators corresponding to the fundamental forms I, II, III of a surface in the three-dimensional Euclidean space and we study surfaces which are of finite type in the sense of B.-Y. Chen with respect to the fundamental forms II and III.
