In this article, we continue the classification of finite type Gauss map surfaces in the Euclidean 3-space E3 with respect to the first fundamental form by studying a subclass of tubes, namely the anchor rings. We show that anchor rings are of infinite type Gauss map.

Proves finitely generated graded rings for klt singularities.
New Frobenius manifold structures found on Dicyclic group orbits.
Researchers find Frobenius manifold structures on orbits spaces of finite groups.
We compute the cohomology with group ring coefficients of the complement of a finite collection of affine hyperplanes in a finite dimensional complex vector space. It is nonzero in exactly one degree, namely the degree equal to the rank of the hyperplane arrangement.
The fundamental groups of compact 3-manifolds are known to be residually finite. Feng Luo conjectured that a stronger statement is true, by only allowing finite groups of the form where is some finite commutative ring with identity. We give an equivalent formulation of Luo's conjecture via faithful repr…
We show that if G is a Chevalley group of rank n and F_q[t,t^{-1}] is the ring of Laurent polynomials over a finite field, then G(F_q[t,t^{-1}]) is of type F_{2n-1}. This bound is optimal because it is known -- and we show again -- that the group is not of type F_{2n}.
Topologies on algebraic and equational theories are used to define germ determined, near-point determined, and point determined rings of smooth functions, without requiring them to be finitely generated. It is proved, that any commutative algebra morphism (without requiring continuity) between near-point determined rin…
Derived differential manifolds are constructed using the usual homotopy theory of simplicial rings of smooth functions. They are proved to be equivalent to derived differential manifolds of finite type, constructed using homotopy sheaves of homotopy rings (D.Spivak), thus preserving the classical cobordism ring. This r…
Study of tautological forms on curve moduli spaces.
The paper explores idempotents in quandle rings and their connections to quandle coverings.
We define and study the Burnside quotient Green ring of a Mackey functor. Some refinements of Dress induction theory are presented, together with applications to computation results for -theory and -theory of finite and infinite groups.
Defines map from skein module to Habiro ring for quantum modularity.
The study connects norms and filtrations on section rings of projective manifolds.
We construct analogues of FI-modules where the role of the symmetric group is played by the general linear groups and the symplectic groups over finite rings and prove basic structural properties such as Noetherianity. Applications include a proof of the Lannes--Schwartz Artinian conjecture in the generic representatio…
We prove that there are examples of finitely generated groups G together with group ring elements Q \in \bbQ G for which the von Neumann dimension \dim_{LG}\ker Q is irrational, so (in conjunction with other known results) answering a question of Atiyah.
The abstract defines and studies a Tits building for commutative rings and proves a Solomon-Tits theorem under certain conditions.
We employ techniques of machine-learning, exemplified by support vector machines and neural classifiers, to initiate the study of whether AI can "learn" algebraic structures. Using finite groups and finite rings as a concrete playground, we find that questions such as identification of simple groups by "looking" at the…
New link colorings using quandle rings and idempotents are stronger than existing methods.
A finitely generated module over the ring L=Z[t, t^{-1}] of integer Laurent polynomials that has no Z-torsion is determined by a pair of sub-lattices of L^d. Their indices are the absolute values of the leading and trailing coefficients of the order of the module. This description has applications in knot theory.
We define the representation ring of a saturated fusion system as the Grothendieck ring of the semiring of -stable representations, and study the dimension functions of -stable representations using the transfer map induced by the characteristic idempotent of . We find a…
Researchers compute torsion for homology cylinders, proving it a finite-type invariant.
Study on faithfulness of Burau representation for Artin-Tits groups.
We give a survey of the theory of surface braid groups and the lower algebraic K-theory of their group rings. We recall several definitions and describe various properties of surface braid groups, such as the existence of torsion, orderability, linearity, and their relation both with mapping class groups and with the h…
An almost-direct product of free groups is an iterated semidirect product of finitely generated free groups in which the action of the constituent free groups on the homology of one another is trivial. We determine the structure of the cohomology ring of such a group. This is used to analyze the topological complexity …
This article is written for the Proceedings of the Conference on Current Developments in Mathematics in Harvard University, November 16-17, 2007. It is an exposition of the analytic proof of the finite generation of the canonical ring for a compact complex algebraic manifold of general type. It lists and discusses the …
The main result in this paper is that the space of all smooth links in Euclidean 3-space isotopic to the trivial link of n components has the same homotopy type as its finite-dimensional subspace consisting of configurations of n unlinked Euclidean circles (the "rings" in the title). There is also an analogous result f…
We construct a Kruskal-Szekeres-type analytic extension of the Emparan-Reall black ring, and investigate its geometry. We prove that the extension is maximal, globally hyperbolic, and unique within a natural class of extensions. The key to those results is the proof that causal geodesics are either complete, or approac…
S. Nelson, M. Orrison, V. Rivera {\cite{S}} modified Kauffman's construction of bracket. Their invariant takes value in a finite ring . In this paper, the author generalizes this invariant. The new invariant takes value in a polynomial ring. Furthermore, for a tricolorable link diagram, the au…
Introduces LRY skein algebras generalizing Kauffman bracket and Roger-Yang skein algebras.
FI-modules were introduced by the first three authors in [CEF] to encode sequences of representations of symmetric groups. Over a field of characteristic 0, finite generation of an FI-module implies representation stability for the corresponding sequence of S_n-representations. In this paper we prove the Noetherian pro…
It is proved that the Wedderburn Theorem on finite division rings implies that all knots and links in the smooth 4-dimensional manifolds are trivial.
The paper proves conditions for self-covering manifolds to be fiber bundles over a circle.
We describe spaces of essential finite height (measured) laminations in a surface using a parameter space we call , an ordered semi-ring. We show that for every finite height essential lamination in , there is an action of on an -tree dual to the lift of to the universal co…
Proves finitely generated associated graded rings for valuations on log Fano pairs.
We give an overview about finiteness properties of soluble S-arithmetic groups. Both, the number field case and the function field case are covered. The main result is: If B is a Borel subgroup in a Chevalley group and R is an S-arithmetic ring, then the group B(R) has finiteness length |S|-1 in the function field case…
We give formulas for the Whitehead groups and the rational -theory groups of the (integer group ring of the) Hilbert modular group in terms of its maximal finite subgroups.
3-manifolds study Hasse norm principle, akin to number fields.
We give new counterexamples to a question of Karsten Grove, whether there are only finitely many rational homotopy types among simply connected manifolds satisfying the assumptions of Gromov's Betti number theorem. Our counterexamples are homogeneous Riemannian manifolds, in contrast to previous ones. They consist of t…
We study the structure of symplectic quandles, quandles which are also R-modules equipped with an antisymmetric bilinear form. We show that every finite dimensional symplectic quandle over a finite field F or arbitrary field F of characteristic other than 2 is a disjoint union of a trivial quandle and a connected quand…
Simpler equations derived for knot polynomials coefficients, forming a ring.
Let be a finite d-valent graph and G an n-dimensional torus. An ``action'' of G on is defined by a map, , which assigns to each oriented edge e of a one-dimensional representation of G (or, alternatively, a weight, , in the weight lattice of G). For the assignment, , to be a schematic des…
For a finite group G acting on a smooth projective variety X, we construct two new G-equivariant rings: first the stringy K-theory of X, and second the stringy cohomology of X. For a smooth Deligne-Mumford stack Y we also construct a new ring called the full orbifold K-theory of Y. For a global quotient Y=[X/G], the ri…
Paper solves Serrin problem for ring-shaped domains, showing velocity has finitely many maxima.
For each geometrically finite 2-dimensional non-Euclidean crystallographic group (NEC group), we compute the cohomology groups. In the case where the group is a Fuchsian group, we also determine the ring structure of the cohomology.
