We give three sufficient criteria for two quasitoric manifolds (M,M') to be (weakly) equivariantly homeomorphic. We apply these criteria to count the weakly equivariant homeomorphism types of quasitoric manifolds with a given cohomology ring.

The paper creates a deformation retraction for homeomorphisms of the projective plane.
In this paper, we investigate an equivariant homeomorphism of the boundaries and of two proper CAT(0) spaces and on which a CAT(0) group acts geometrically. We provide a sufficient condition and an equivalent condition to obtain a -equivariant homeomorphism of the boundaries $\p…
In this paper, we investigate an equivariant homeomorphism of the boundaries and of two proper CAT(0) spaces and on which a CAT(0) group acts geometrically. We provide a sufficient condition to obtain a -equivariant homeomorphism of the two boundaries and $\partial …
The long-standing problem of the perfectness of the compactly supported equivariant homeomorphism group on a -manifold (with one orbit type) is solved in the affirmative. The proof is based on an argument different than that for the case of diffeomorphisms. The theorem is a starting point for computing $H_1(\mathcal…
We obtain an equivariant classification for orientable, closed, four-dimensional Alexandrov spaces admitting an isometric torus action. This generalizes the equivariant classification of Orlik and Raymond of closed four-dimensional manifolds with torus actions. Moreover, we show that such Alexandrov spaces are equivari…
New rigidity results for complex and quaternionic moment-angle manifolds.
We show that, given any finite dimensional, connected, compact metric space Z, there exists a group G acting geometrically on two CAT(0) spaces X and Y, a G-equivariant quasi-isometry f from X to Y, and a geodesic ray c in X, such that the closure of f(c), instersected with the boundary of Y, is homeomorphic to Z. This…
The notion of a locally continuously perfect group is introduced and studied. This notion generalizes locally smoothly perfect groups introduced by Haller and Teichmann. Next, we prove that the path connected identity component of the group of all homeomorphisms of a manifold is locally continuously perfect. The case o…
Paper classifies pseudomanifolds over stratified spaces.
Let a compact Lie group act isometrically on a non-collapsing sequence of compact Alexandrov spaces with fixed dimension and uniform lower curvature and upper diameter bounds. If the sequence of actions is equicontinuous and converges in the equivariant Gromov--Hausdorff topology, then the limit space is equivariantly …
Authors classify 3D locally standard T-pseudomanifolds under weaker conditions.
The equivariant cohomology of a space with a group action is not only a ring but also an algebra over the cohomology ring of the classifying space of the acting group. We prove that toric manifolds (i.e. compact smooth toric varieties) are isomorphic as varieties if and only if their equivariant cohomology algebras are…
The paper characterizes groups acting on real projective spaces.
Study surfaces in 4-manifolds with cyclic fundamental group.
In 2006 Masuda and Suh asked if two compact non-singular toric varieties having isomorphic cohomology rings are homeomorphic. In the first part of this paper we discuss this question for topological generalizations of toric varieties, so-called torus manifolds. For example we show that there are homotopy equivalent tor…
We prove a structure theorem for closed topological manifolds of cohomogeneity one; this result corrects an oversight in the literature. We complete the equivariant classification of closed, simply connected cohomogeneity one topological manifolds in dimensions , , and and obtain topological characterizations…
New infinite family of 4-manifolds with same stable properties but not homotopy equivalent.
We obtain a topological and equivariant classification of closed, connected three-dimensional Alexandrov spaces admitting a local isometric circle action. We show, in particular, that such spaces are homeomorphic to connected sums of some closed 3-manifold with a local circle action and finitely many copies of the susp…
We prove that every piecewise linear manifold of dimension up to four on which a finite group acts by piecewise linear homeomorphisms admits a compatible smooth structure with respect to which the group acts smoothly. This solves a challenge posed by Thurston in dimension three and confirms a conjecture by Kwasik and L…
We classify positively curved Alexandrov spaces of dimension 4 with an isometric circle action up to equivariant homeomorphism, subject to a certain additional condition on the infinitesimal geometry near fixed points which we conjecture is always satisfied. As a corollary, we also classify positively curved Riemannian…
Closed oriented 4-manifolds with the same geometrically 2-dimensional fundamental group (satisfying certain properties) are classified up to -cobordism by their -type, equivariant intersection form and the Kirby-Siebenmann invariant. As an application, we obtain a complete homeomorphism classification of closed…
We use our new type of bounded locally homeomorphic quasiregular mappings in the unit 3-ball to address long standing problems for such mappings. The construction of such mappings comes from our construction of non-trivial compact 4-dimensional cobordisms with symmetric boundary components and whose interiors have …
We prove Csorba's conjecture that the Lovász complex Hom(C_5,K_n) of graph multimorphisms from the 5-cycle C_5 to the complete graph K_n is Z/2Z-equivariantly homeomorphic to the Stiefel manifold, V(n-1,2), the space of (ordered) orthonormal 2-frames in R^{n-1}. The equivariant piecewise-linear topology that we need is…
We show Péter Csorba's conjecture that the graph homomorphism complex Hom(C_5,K_{n+2}) is homeomorphic to a Stiefel manifold, the space of unit tangent vectors to the n-dimensional sphere. For this a general tool is developed that allows to replace the complexes Hom(G, K_n) by smaller complexes that are homeomorphic to…
We study discrete, cocompact, isometric actions of groups on Hadamard spaces, and the induced actions on ideal boundaries. For a class of groups generalizing fundamental groups of three-dimensional graph manifolds, we find a set of invariants for the action which determine the boundary action up to equivariant homeomor…
We construct a new type of locally homeomorphic quasiregular mappings in the 3-sphere and discuss their relation to the M.A.Lavrentiev problem, the Zorich map with an essential singularity at infinity, the Fatou's problem and a quasiregular analogue of domains of holomorphy in complex analysis. The construction of such…
Study the boundary of a space related to Outer space.
The paper sketches a recent progress and formulates several open problems in studying equivariant quasiconformal and quasisymmetric homeomorphisms in negatively curved spaces as well as geometry and topology of noncompact geometrically finite negatively curved manifolds and their boundaries at infinity having Carnot--C…
Let be complete, simply connected Riemannian surfaces with pinched negative curvature . We show that if is a Moebius homeomorphism between the boundaries at infinity of , then extends to an isometry . This can be viewed as a generalizati…
Let be a positive integer, and let be square-free odd. We classify the set of equivariant homeomorphism classes of free -actions on the product of spheres, up to indeterminacy bounded in . The description is expressed in terms of number theory. The techniques are various appl…
Study ratio-limit boundaries for random walks on hyperbolic groups.
The paper explores smooth equivariant rigidity and finds infinitely many exotic smooth structures.
We consider the canonical action of the compact torus on the Grassmann manifold and prove that the orbit space is homeomorphic to the sphere . We prove that the induced differentiable structure on is not the smooth one and describe the smooth and the singular points. We also con…
If is a compact Lie group and an integer, the space is endowed with the structure of a Hamiltonian space with a Lie group valued moment map . Let be in the centre of . The reduction is homeomorphic to a moduli space of flat connections. When is simply connected, a dire…
We show that the simply-connected four-manifolds which admit locally linear, homologically trivial actions by rank two finite abelian groups are homeomorphic to connected sums of CP^2, -CP^2, and S^2 x S^2 (with one exception: pseudofree Z_3 x Z_3 actions on the Chern manifold), and also establish an equivariant decomp…
We construct universal geometric spaces over the real spectrum compactification of the character variety of a finitely generated group in , providing geometric interpretations of boundary points. For an algebraic set on which acts by …
The problem of equivariant rigidity is the -homeomorphism classification of -actions on manifolds with compact quotient and with contractible fixed sets for all finite subgroups of . In other words, this is the classification of cocompact -manifolds. We use surgery theory, algebraic -theory, and t…
Let be two Kleinian groups with homeomorphic quotients and . We assume that is of divergence type, and consider the Patterson-Sullivan measures of and . The measurable rigidity theorem by Sullivan and Tukia says that a measurable and essentially directly measurable equiv…
As a generalization of Davis-Januszkiewicz theory, there is an essential link between locally standard -actions (or -actions) actions and nice manifolds with corners, so that a class of nicely behaved equivariant cut-and-paste operations on locally standard actions can be carried out in step on nice mani…
New insights into the structure of blown-up corona of hyperbolic groups.
A Lie group naturally acts on its Lie algebra , called the adjoint action. In this paper, we determine the orbit types of the compact exceptional Lie group in its Lie algebra . As results, the group has four orbit types in the Lie algebra as $$ G_2/G_2, \quad G_2/(U(1) \times U(1)), …
The study classifies immersed surfaces with knot group Z in simply-connected 4-manifolds.
In arXiv:math/0605587, the first two authors have constructed a gauge-equivariant Morse stratification on the space of connections on a principal U(n)-bundle over a connected, closed, nonorientable surface. This space can be identified with the real locus of the space of connections on the pullback of this bundle over …
We study deformations of complex hyperbolic surfaces which furnish the simplest examples of: (i) negatively curved Kähler manifolds and (ii) negatively curved Riemannian manifolds not having {\it constant} curvature. Although such complex surfaces may share the rigidity of quaternionic/octionic hyperbolic manifolds, ou…

An affine manifold is a manifold with torsion-free flat affine connection. A geometric topologist's definition of an affine manifold is a manifold with an atlas of charts to the affine space with affine transition functions; a radiant affine manifold is an affine manifold with holonomy consisting of affine transformati…
