We derive a discrete analogue of Morse-Bott theory on CW complexes and use this discrete Morse-Bott function to do some Conley theory analysis. It turns out that our discrete Morse-Bott theory is indeed a generalization of Forman's discrete Morse theory.

New proof for discrete Morse theory using combinatorial construction.
We propose a discrete surface theory in that unites the most prevalent versions of discrete special parametrizations. This theory encapsulates a large class of discrete surfaces given by a Lax representation and, in particular, the one-parameter associated families of constant curvature surfaces. The theo…
Discrete Lagrange problems solved with Lie group constraints.
In the present paper, we propose a new discrete surface theory on 3-valent embedded graphs in the 3-dimensional Euclidean space which are not necessarily discretization or approximation of smooth surfaces. The Gauss curvature and the mean curvature of discrete surfaces are defined which satisfy properties corresponding…
This paper develops a discrete theory of real Riemann surfaces using quad-graphs and linear discretization.
We propose here a new discretization method for a class continuum gauge theories which action functionnals are polynomials of the curvature. Based on the notion of holonomy, this discretization procedure appears gauge-invariant for discretized analogs of Yang-Mills theories, and hence gauge-fixing is fully rigorous for…
Geometric approach uses Bäcklund transformations to create integrable discrete analogs of surface nets.
Finding appropriate notions of discrete holomorphic maps and, more generally, conformal immersions of discrete Riemann surfaces into 3-space is an important problem of discrete differential geometry and computer visualization. We propose an approach to discrete conformality that is based on the concept of holomorphic l…
Two discretizations, linear and nonlinear, of basic notions of the complex analysis are considered. The underlying lattice is an arbitrary quasicrystallic rhombic tiling of a plane. The linear theory is based on the discrete Cauchy-Riemann equations, the nonlinear one is based on the notion of circle patterns. We clari…
Lecture notes on crystallography and discrete surfaces.
We detail the theory of Discrete Riemann Surfaces. It takes place on a cellular decomposition of a surface, together with its Poincaré dual, equipped with a discrete conformal structure. A lot of theorems of the continuous theory follow through to the discrete case, we define the discrete analogs of period matrices, Ri…
We provide an action for gauge theories discretized on simplicial meshes, inspired by finite element methods. The action is discretely gauge invariant and we give a proof of consistency. A discrete Noether's theorem that can be applied to our setting, is also proved.

Study on discrete surfaces with constant principal curvature for nanocarbon applications.
We establish a connection between recent developments in the study of vortices in the abelian Higgs models, and in the theory of structure-preserving discrete conformal maps. We explain how both are related via conformal mapping problems involving prescribed linear combinations of the curvature and volume form, and sho…
We present a theory and applications of discrete exterior calculus on simplicial complexes of arbitrary finite dimension. This can be thought of as calculus on a discrete space. Our theory includes not only discrete differential forms but also discrete vector fields and the operators acting on these objects. This allow…
The paper introduces a new discretization of Gaussian curvature on surfaces.
The study explores discrete versions of Riemannian geometry structures on manifolds.
We establish a connection between two previously unrelated topics: a particular discrete version of conformal geometry for triangulated surfaces, and the geometry of ideal polyhedra in hyperbolic three-space. Two triangulated surfaces are considered discretely conformally equivalent if the edge lengths are related by s…
These are lectures on discrete groups of isometries of complex hyperbolic spaces, aimed to discuss interactions between the function theory on complex hyperbolic manifolds and the theory of discrete groups.
Following the previous authors works (joint with I.A.Dynnikov) we develop a theory of the discrete analogs of the differential-geometrical (DG) connections in the triangulated manifolds. We study a nonstandard discretization based on the interpretation of DG Connection as linear first order (''triangle'') difference eq…
Connections on principal bundles play a fundamental role in expressing the equations of motion for mechanical systems with symmetry in an intrinsic fashion. A discrete theory of connections on principal bundles is constructed by introducing the discrete analogue of the Atiyah sequence, with a connection corresponding t…
Margulis wrote in the preface of his book Discrete subgroups of semisimple Lie groups that "A number of important topics have been omitted. The most significant of these is the theory of Kleinian groups and Thurston's theory of 3-dimensional manifolds: these two theories can be united under the common title of Theory o…

New discrete models for constant mean curvature surfaces and tori.
A Darboux transformation for polarized space curves is introduced and its properties are studied, in particular, Bianchi permutability. Semi-discrete isothermic surfaces are described as sequences of Darboux transforms of polarized curves in the conformal n-sphere and their transformation theory is studied. Semi-discre…

The paper uses MDM theory to analyze multifiltering functions on simplicial complexes.
After surveying classical notions of PL topology of the Seventies, we clarify the relation between Morse theory and its discretization by Forman. We show that PL handles theory and discrete Morse theory are equivalent, in the sense that every discrete Morse vector on some PL triangulation is also a PL handle vector, an…
1) We introduce random discrete Morse theory as a computational scheme to measure the complicatedness of a triangulation. The idea is to try to quantify the frequence of discrete Morse matchings with a certain number of critical cells. Our measure will depend on the topology of the space, but also on how nicely the spa…
We describe a mathematical link between aspects of information theory, called pairwise comparisons, and discretized gauge theories. The link is made by the notion of holonomy along the edges of a simplex. This correspondance leads to open questions in both field.
In the previous paper [GLM2018], we showed that the theory of harmonic maps between Riemannian manifolds may be discretized by introducing triangulations with vertex and edge weights on the domain manifold. In the present paper, we study convergence of the discrete theory to the smooth theory when taking finer and fine…
Discretization of curves is an ancient topic. Even discretization of curves with an eye toward differential geometry is over a century old. However there is no general theory or methodology in the literature, despite the ubiquitous use of discrete curves in mathematics and science. There are conflicting definitions of …
Study on deforming discrete conformal structures on surfaces with boundaries.
A new field of discrete differential geometry is presently emerging on the border between differential and discrete geometry. Whereas classical differential geometry investigates smooth geometric shapes (such as surfaces), and discrete geometry studies geometric shapes with finite number of elements (such as polyhedra)…
We construct explicit solutions to the discrete motion of discrete plane curves that has been introduced by one of the authors recently. Explicit formulas in terms the function are presented. Transformation theory of the motions of both smooth and discrete curves is developed simultaneously.

This paper presents a geometric-variational approach to continuous and discrete {\it second-order} field theories following the methodology of \cite{MPS}. Staying entirely in the Lagrangian framework and letting denote the configuration fiber bundle, we show that both the multisymplectic structure on as well…
In the case of smooth manifolds, we use Forman's discrete Morse theory to realize combinatorially any Thom-Smale complex coming from a smooth Morse function by a couple triangulation-discrete Morse function. As an application, we prove that any Euler structure on a smooth oriented closed 3-manifold has a particular rea…
