New invariant connects knot homology and BPS series for plumbed knot complements.

problem Understanding invariants of plumbed knot complements.
method Introducing an invariant unifying knot lattice homology and BPS series, proving a surgery formula.
result Proved a surgery formula relating the new invariant to the weighted graded root of the surgered 3-manifold.

Given a knot K in the three-sphere, we address the question: which Dehn surgeries on K bound negative-definite four-manifolds? We show that the answer depends on a number m(K), which is a smooth concordance invariant. We study the properties of this invariant, and compute it for torus knots.

Lomonaco and Kauffman developed knot mosaics to give a definition of a quantum knot system. This definition is intended to represent an actual physical quantum system. A knot nn-mosaic is an n×nn \times n matrix of 11 kinds of specific mosaic tiles representing a knot or a link. The mosaic number m(K)m(K) of a knot KK i…

An oriented compact 4-manifold VV with boundary S3S^3 is called a positon (resp. negaton) if its intersection form is positive definite (resp. negative definite) and it is simply connected. In this paper, we prove that there exist infinitely many knots which cannot bound null-homologous disks either in positons or in …

All knots in R3R^3 possess Seifert surfaces, and so the classical Thurston-Bennequin and rotation (or Maslov) invariants for Legendrian knots in a contact structure on R3R^3 can be defined. The definitions extend easily to null-homologous knots in any 33-manifold MM endowed with a contact structure ξξ. We generalize…

We construct an infinite family of hyperbolic, homologically thin knots that are not quasi-alternating. To establish the latter, we argue that the branched double-cover of each knot in the family does not bound a negative definite 4-manifold with trivial first homology and bounded second betti number. This fact depends…

In this paper, we give a precise and workable definition of a quantum knot system, the states of which are called quantum knots. This definition can be viewed as a blueprint for the construction of an actual physical quantum system. Moreover, this definition of a quantum knot system is intended to represent the "quantu…

In the note we study Legendrian and transverse knots in rationally null-homologous knot types. In particular we generalize the standard definitions of self-linking number, Thurston-Bennequin invariant and rotation number. We then prove a version of Bennequin's inequality for these knots and classify precisely when the …

We set forth a definition of hyperfinite knots. Loosely speaking, these are limits of certain sequences of knots with increasing crossing number. These limits exist in appropriate closures of quotient spaces of knots. We give examples of hyperfinite knots. These examples stem from an application of the Thermodynamic Li…

We give a new definition of the knot invariant associated to the Lie algebra su_{N+1}. The knot or link must be presented as the plat closure of a braid. The invariant is then a homological intersection pairing between two submanifolds of a configuration space of points in a disk. This generalizes previous work on the …

We initiate the study of classical knots through the homotopy class of the n-th evaluation map of the knot, which is the induced map on the compactified n-point configuration space. Sending a knot to its n-th evaluation map realizes the space of knots as a subspace of what we call the n-th mapping space model for knots…

We will announce some results on the values of quantum sl_2 invariants of knots and integral homology spheres. Lawrence's universal sl_2 invariant of knots takes values in a fairly small subalgebra of the center of the h-adic version of the quantized enveloping algebra of sl_2. This implies an integrality result on the…

The minimum number of colors is a challenging knot invariant since, by definition, its calculation requires taking the minimum over infinitely many minima. In this article we estimate and in some cases calculate the minimum number of colors for the Turk's head knots on three strands.

Knot lattice homology invariant is preserved under certain 3-manifold diffeomorphisms.

problem Preserving knot lattice homology invariants under 3-manifold diffeomorphisms.
method Examined filtered lattice chain homotopy types of negative-definite forests with one unframed vertex.
result Filtered lattice chain homotopy type is an invariant of the diffeomorphism type of resulting 3-manifolds.

We define and study a bigraded knot invariant whose Euler characteristic is the Alexander polynomial, closely connected to knot Floer homology. The invariant is the homology of a chain complex whose generators correspond to Kauffman states for a knot diagram. The definition uses decompositions of knot diagrams: to a co…

Lomonaco and Kauffman introduced knot mosaic system to give a definition of quantum knot system. This definition is intended to represent an actual physical quantum system. We call a Delta Diagram any diagram of a knot or link whose regions (including the unbounded one) have 3, 4, or 5 sides. We prove that any knot or link admits a delta diagram. We define and estimate combinatorial link invariants stemming from this definition.

In this paper, we define the rectangle condition on the bridge sphere for a nn-bridge decomposition of a knot whose definition is analogous to the definition of the rectangle condition for Heegaard splittings of 33-manifolds. We show that the satisfaction of the rectangle condition for a nn-bridge decomposition can …

Knot Floer homology is an invariant for knots discovered by the authors and, independently, Jacob Rasmussen. The discovery of this invariant grew naturally out of studying how a certain three-manifold invariant, Heegaard Floer homology, changes as the three-manifold undergoes Dehn surgery along a knot. Since its origin…

Following the suggestion of arXiv:1407.6319 to lift the knot polynomials for virtual knots and links from Jones to HOMFLY, we apply the evolution method to calculate them for an infinite series of twist-like virtual knots and antiparallel 2-strand links.
