48 results for crossed modules

We define 2-crossed module bundle 2-gerbes related to general Lie 2-crossed modules and discuss their properties. A 2-crossed module bundle 2-gerbe over a manifold is defined in terms of a so called 2-crossed module bundle gerbe, which is a crossed module bundle gerbe equipped with an extra sructure. It is shown that s…

We prove that if MM is a CW-complex and M1M^1 is its 1-skeleton then the crossed module Π2(M,M1)Π_2(M,M^1) depends only on the homotopy type of MM as a space, up to free products, in the category of crossed modules, with Π2(D2,S1)Π_2(D^2,S^1). From this it follows that, if GG is a finite crossed module and MM is finite, then th…

We categorify the notion of an infinitesimal braiding in a linear strict symmetric monoidal category, leading to the notion of a (strict) infinitesimal 2-braiding in a linear symmetric strict monoidal 2-category. We describe the associated categorification of the 4-term relation, leading to six categorified relations. …

We give a precise and general description of gerbes valued in arbitrary crossed module and over an arbitrary differential stack. We do it using only Lie groupoids, hence ordinary differential geometry. We prove the coincidence with the existing notions by comparing our construction with non-Abelian cohomology.

result The mutual relationship between Lie-Rinehart algebras and Lie brackets, and the historical development of these concepts.

We prove that if MM is a CW-complex and * is a 0-cell of MM, then the crossed module Π2(M,M1,)Π_2(M,M^1,*) does not depend on the cellular decomposition of MM up to free products with Π2(D2,S1,)Π_2(D^2,S^1,*), where M1M^1 is the 1-skeleton of MM. From this it follows that if GG is a finite crossed module and MM is finite, the…

Using computational techniques we tabulate prime knots up to five crossings in the solid torus and the infinite family of lens spaces L(p,q)L(p,q). For these knots we calculate the second and third skein module and establish which prime knots in the solid torus are amphichiral. Most knots are distinguished by the skein mod…

In this paper we study the cohomology of (strict) Lie 2-groups. We obtain an explicit Bott-Shulman type map in the case of a Lie 2-group corresponding to the crossed module A1A\to 1. The cohomology of the Lie 2-groups corresponding to the universal crossed modules $G\to \Aut(G)$ and $G\to \Aut^+(G)$ is the abutment of …

This is the second of a series of two technical papers devoted to the analysis of holonomy invariants in strict higher gauge theory with end applications in higher Chern--Simons theory. Previous work (Pradines, 1966, Aof and Brown, 1992) has given a setting for a holonomy Lie groupoid of a locally Lie groupoid.
