We review the theory of intrinsic geometry of convex surfaces in the Euclidean space and prove the following theorem: if the surface of a convex body K contains arbitrary long closed simple geodesics, then K is an isosceles tetrahedron.

New weighted surface area measures for convex bodies with applications.
In 1989, Y. Eliashberg proved that two overtwisted contact structures on a closed oriented 3-manifold are isotopic if and only if they are homotopic as 2-plane fields. We provide an alternative proof of this theorem using the convex surface theory and bypasses.

Closed surfaces minimize total curvature in curved spaces.
The Orlicz-Brunn-Minkowski theory receives considerable attention recently, and many results in the -Brunn-Minkowski theory have been extended to their Orlicz counterparts. The aim of this paper is to develop Orlicz affine and geominimal surface areas for single convex body as well as for multiple convex bod…
We consider minimal immersions in MxR. We study existence and uniqueness of associate and conjugate isometric immersions to a given minimal surface. We use the theory of univalent harmonic map between surfaces. Then we study the geometry of associate minimal vertical graphs. We prove that an associate surface of a vert…
Study finds geodesic networks for surfaces with convex boundary.
The Weyl problem is extended to hyperbolic and anti-de Sitter spaces, connecting geometry, analysis, and group theory.
In this paper we survey recent developments in the classical theory of minimal surfaces in Euclidean spaces which have been obtained as applications of both classical and modern complex analytic methods; in particular, Oka theory, period dominating holomorphic sprays, gluing methods for holomorphic maps, and the Rieman…
Motivated by considerations of euclidean quantum gravity, we investigate a central question of spectral geometry, namely the question of reconstructability of compact Riemannian manifolds from the spectra of their Laplace operators. To this end, we study analytic paths of metrics that induce isospectral Laplace-Beltram…
Develops new methods for Epstein surfaces and W-volume.
In this paper, we prove a generalization of Rado's Theorem, a fundamental result of minimal surface theory, which says that minimal surfaces over a convex domain with graphical boundaries must be disks which are themselves graphical. We will show that, for a minimal surface of any genus, whose boundary is "almost graph…
We study strip deformations of convex cocompact hyperbolic surfaces, defined by inserting hyperbolic strips along a collection of disjoint geodesic arcs properly embedded in the surface. We prove that any deformation of the surface that uniformly lengthens all closed geodesics can be realized as a strip deformation, in…
Study foliations in PSL(4,R)-Teichmüller theory, proving two invariant foliations.
Develops a theory for mth order p-affine capacity for convex bodies containing the origin.
We review and extend here some recent results on the existence of minimal surfaces and isoperimetric sets in non homogeneous and anisotropic periodic media. We also describe the qualitative properties of the homogenized surface tension, also known as stable norm (or minimal action) in Weak KAM theory. In particular we …
We show that all positive contact surgeries on every Legendrian figure-eight knot in result in an overtwisted contact structure. The proof uses convex surface theory and invariants from Heegaard Floer homology.
We prove the existence of a unique maximal surface in each anti-de Sitter (AdS) convex Globally Hyperbolic Maximal (GHM) manifold with particles (that is, with conical singularities along time-like lines) for cone angles less than . We interpret this result in terms of Teichmüller theory, and prove the existence of …
The Cannon Conjecture from the geometric group theory asserts that a word hyperbolic group that acts effectively on its boundary, and whose boundary is homeomorphic to the 2-sphere, is isomorphic to a Kleinian group. We prove the following Criterion for Cannon's Conjecture: A hyperbolic group (that acts effectively…
In 3-d the average projected area of a convex solid is 1/4 the surface area, as Cauchy showed in the 19th century. In general, the ratio in n dimensions may be obtained from Cauchy's surface area formula, which is in turn a special case of Kubota's theorem. However, while these latter results are well-known to those wo…
Compact Special Weingarten surfaces with planar convex boundaries are disks.
In this survey, we study representations of finitely generated groups into Lie groups, focusing on the deformation spaces of convex real projective structures on closed manifolds and orbifolds, with an excursion on projective structures on surfaces. We survey the basics of the theory of character varieties, geometric s…

The paper develops inequalities for log-concave functions and related surface areas.
The study establishes curvature estimates and convexity for a specific type of minimal surfaces.
This paper concerns the global theory of properly embedded spacelike surfaces in three-dimensional Minkowski space in relation to their Gaussian curvature. We prove that every regular domain which is not a wedge is uniquely foliated by properly embedded convex surfaces of constant Gaussian curvature. This is a conseque…
In this paper, we establish a min-max theory for constructing minimal disks with free boundary in any closed Riemannian manifold. The main result is an effective version of the partial Morse theory for minimal disks with free boundary established by Fraser. Our theory also includes as a special case the min-max theory …
Self-crossing geodesics on convex surfaces are studied.
A convex projective surface is the quotient of a properly convex open of by a discret subgroup of . We give some caracterisations of the fact that a convex projective surface is of finite volume for the Busemann's measure. We deduce of this that if is not a triangle then …
Unique floating and buoyancy surfaces identify convex polytopes.
With the help of hyper-ideal circle pattern theory, we have developed a discrete version of the classical uniformization theorems for surfaces represented as finite branched covers over the Riemann sphere as well as compact polyhedral surfaces with non-positive curvature. We show that in the case of such surfaces discr…
This work uncovers the tropical analogue for measured laminations of the convex hull construction of decorated Teichmueller theory, namely, it is a study in coordinates of geometric degeneration to a point of Thurston's boundary for Teichmueller space. This may offer a paradigm for the extension of the basic cell decom…
We prove that there is a unique real tight contact structure on the 3-ball with convex boundary up to isotopy through real tight contact structures. We also give a partial classification of the real tight solid tori with the real structure being antipodal map along longitudinal and the identity along meridional directi…
We review some basic concepts related to convex real projective structures from the differential geometry point of view. We start by recalling a Riemannian metric which originates in the study of affine spheres using the Blaschke connection (work of Calabi and of Cheng-Yau) mentioning its relation with the Hilbert metr…
New surface area measures defined for ball-convex bodies, leading to entropy and inequalities.
New minimal surfaces found with Cantor ends in convex domains.
Let S be a closed oriented surface of genus at least two. Labourie and the author have independently used the theory of hyperbolic affine spheres to find a natural correspondence between convex RP^2 structures on S and pairs (Σ,U) consisting of a conformal structure Σon S and a holomorphic cubic differential U over Σ. …
The paper introduces a new differential-geometric system which originates from the theory of -Hessian operators. The core of this system is a new notion of invariant differentiation on multidimensional surfaces. This novelty gives rise to the following absolute geometric invariants: invariant derivatives of the surf…
We consider the mean curvature flow of compact convex surfaces in Euclidean -space with free boundary lying on an arbitrary convex barrier surface with bounded geometry. When the initial surface is sufficiently convex, depending only on the geometry of the barrier, the flow contracts the surface to a point in finite…
We develop new techniques in the theory of convex surfaces to prove complete classification results for tight contact structures on lens spaces, solid tori, and T^2 X I. Erratum: In this note we seek to remedy errors which appeared in version 2 and were propagated in subsequent papers.
