Finally we construct, via the Daniel correspondence, new examples of …

In math.SG/0303255, we discussed the connected components of the space of surface group representations for any compact connected semisimple Lie group and any closed compact (orientable or nonorientable) surface. In this sequel, we generalize the results in math.SG/0303255 in two directions: we consider general compact…

In this paper, we address the following question: What does a typical compact Riemann surface of large genus look like geometrically? We do so by constructing compact Riemann surfaces from oriented 3-regular graphs. The set for such Riemann surfaces is dense in the space of all compact Riemann surfaces, namely Belyi su…

Let Σ,1Σ_{\infty, 1} be the inductive limit of compact oriented surfaces with one boundary component. We prove the center of the Goldman Lie algebra of the surface Σ,1Σ_{\infty,1} is spanned by the constant loop. A similar statement for a closed oriented surface was conjectured by Chas and Sullivan, and proved by Etingof…

We prove that Stein surfaces with boundary coincide up to orientation preserving diffeomorphisms with simple branched coverings of $\B^4$ whose branch set is a positive braided surface. As a consequence, we have that a smooth oriented 3-manifold is Stein fillable iff it has a positive open-book decomposition.
