48 results for combinatorial categorification

We extend the cobordism based categorification of the virtual Jones polynomial to virtual tangles. This extension is combinatorial and has semi-local properties. We use the semi-local property to prove an applications, i.e. we give a discussion of Lee's degeneration of virtual homology.

The Stanley chromatic symmetric function XGX_G of a graph GG is a symmetric function generalization of the chromatic polynomial, and has interesting combinatorial properties. We apply the ideas of Khovanov homology to construct a homology of graded SnS_n-modules, whose graded Frobenius series FrobG(q,t)Frob_G(q,t) reduces to …

Khovanov homology ist a new link invariant, discovered by M. Khovanov, and used by J. Rasmussen to give a combinatorial proof of the Milnor conjecture. In this thesis, we give examples of mutant links with different Khovanov homology. We prove that Khovanov's chain complex retracts to a subcomplex, whose generators are…

This paper is an introduction to virtual knot theory and an exposition of new ideas and constructions, including the parity bracket polynomial, the arrow polynomial, the parity arrow polynomial and categorifications of the arrow polynomial. The paper is relatively self-contained and it describes virtual knot theory bot…

Springer varieties appear in both geometric representation theory and knot theory. Motivated by knot theory and categorification Khovanov provides a topological construction of (n/2,n/2)(n/2, n/2) Springer varieties. We extend Khovanov's construction to all two-row Springer varieties. Using the combinatorial and diagrammatic …

This paper contains a categorification of the sl(k) link invariant using parabolic singular blocks of category O. Our approach is intended to be as elementary as possible, providing combinatorial proofs of the main results of Sussan. We first construct an exact functor valued invariant of webs or 'special' trivalent gr…

This thesis splits into two major parts. The connection between the two parts is the notion of "categorification" which we shortly explain/recall in the introduction. In the first part of this thesis we extend Bar-Natan's cobordism based categorification of the Jones polynomial to virtual links. Our topological complex…

The Jones-Wenzl projectors play a central role in quantum topology, underlying the construction of SU(2) topological quantum field theories and quantum spin networks. We construct chain complexes whose graded Euler characteristic is the "classical" projector in the Temperley-Lieb algebra. We show that they are homotopy…

Using a modified foam evaluation, we give a categorification of the Alexander polynomial of a knot. We also give a purely algebraic version of this knot homology which makes it appear as the infinite page of a spectral sequence starting at the reduced triply graded link homology of Khovanov--Rozansky.

For each graph we construct graded cohomology groups whose graded Euler characteristic is the chromatic polynomial of the graph. We show the cohomology groups satisfy a long exact sequence which corresponds to the well-known deletion-contraction rule. This work is motivated by Khovanov's work on categorification of the…

In the spirit of Bar Natan's construction of Khovanov homology, we give a categorification of the Vandermonde determinant. Given a sequence of positive integers x=(x1,...,xn)\vec{x}=(x_1,...,x_n), we construct a commutative diagram in the shape of the Bruhat order on SnS_n whose nodes are colored smoothings of the 22-strand toru…

We propose a means by which some categorifications can be evaluated at a root of unity. This is implemented using a suitable localization in the context of prior work by the authors on categorification of the Jones-Wenzl projectors. Within this construction we define objects, invariant under handle slides, which decate…

We extend Bar-Natan's cobordism based categorification of the Jones polynomial to virtual links. Our topological complex allows a direct extension of the classical Khovanov complex (h=t=0h=t=0), the variant of Lee (h=0,t=1h=0,t=1) and other classical link homologies.
