Main theorem of this paper states that Floer cohomology groups in a Hilbert space are isomorphic to the cohomological Conley Index. It is also shown that calculating cohomological Conley Index does not require finite dimensional approximations of the vector field. Further directions are discussed.

Given a proper, cocompact action of a Lie groupoid, we define a higher index pairing between invariant elliptic differential operators and smooth groupoid cohomology classes. We prove a cohomological index formula for this pairing by applying the van Est map and algebraic index theory. Finally we discuss in examples th…
We prove properties of the Schweitzer complex and its cohomologies.
We define the "localized index" of longitudinal elliptic operators on Lie groupoids associated to Lie algebroid cohomology classes. We derive a topological expression for these numbers using the algebraic index theorem for Poisson manifolds on the dual of the Lie algebroid. Underlying the definition and computation of …
In this paper we study the cohomological Conley index of arbitrary isolated invariant continua for continuous maps by analyzing the topological structure of their unstable manifold. We provide a simple dynamical interpretation for the first cohomological Conley index…
In this note several computations of equivariant cohomology groups are performed. For the compactly supported equivariant cohomology, the notion of infinitesimal index developed in arXiv:1003.3525, allows to describe these groups in terms of certain spaces of distributions arising in the theory of splines. The new vers…
The paper solves a general case of the cohomological relative index problem for foliations.
Develops obstruction theory for a specific 4-manifold index.
We present the solution of a longstanding internal problem of noncommutative geometry, namely the computation of the index of a transversally elliptic operator on an arbitrary foliation. The new and crucial ingredient is a certain Hopf algebra associated to the transverse frame bundle. Its cyclic cohomology is defined …
We revisit the cohomological index theorem for elliptic elements in the universal enveloping algebra of a Lie groupoid previously proved by the authors. We prove a Thom isomorphism for Lie algebroids which enables us to rewrite the "topological side" of the index theorem. This results in index formulae for Lie groupoid…
We give a cohomological formula for the index of a fully elliptic pseudodifferential operator on a manifold with boundary. As in the classic case of Atiyah-Singer, we use an embedding into an euclidean space to express the index as the integral of a cohomology class depending in this case on a noncommutative symbol, th…
Study automorphism equivariant Hitchin index for Riemann surfaces.
In 1996, Berline and Vergne gave a cohomological formula for the index of a transversally elliptic operator. In this paper we propose a new point of view where the cohomological formulae make use of equivariant Chern characters with generalized coefficients and with compact suppport. This kind of Chern characters was s…
We compute the equivariant cohomology Chern character of the index of elliptic operators along the leaves of the foliation of a flat bundle. The proof is based on the study of certain algebras of pseudodifferential operators and uses techniques for analizing noncommutative algebras similar to those developed in Algebra…

Formula for Z_2-valued index of symmetric operators on manifolds.
We give a superconnection proof of the cohomological form of Mathai-Melrose-Singer index theorem for the family of twisted Dirac operators under relaxed conditions.
Generalizes Molino's theory for Riemannian foliations.
Paper constructs a transfer map for codimension 2 submanifolds in higher index theory.
The paper explores higher fixed point theorems for foliations with applications to rigidity and integrality.
In this paper we give a proof of an index theorem by Bismut. As a consequence we obtain another proof of the Grothendieck-Riemann-Roch theorem in differential cohomology.
The Atiyah-Singer index theorem is a topological formula for the index of an elliptic differential operator. The topological index depends on a cohomology class that is constructed from the principal symbol of the operator. On contact manifolds, the important Fredholm operators are not elliptic, but hypoelliptic. Their…
We use the symbol calculus for foliations developed in our previous paper to derive a cohomological formula for the Connes-Chern character of the semi-finite spectral triple. The same proof works for the Type I spectral triple of Connes-Moscovici. The cohomology classes of the two Connes-Chern characters induce the sam…
From 1980s, it is an open problem of proposing cohomologic formula for the basic index of a transversally elliptic basic differential operator on a vector bundle over a foliated manifold. In 1990s, El Kacimi-Alaoui has proprosed to use the Molino theory for study this index. Molino has proved that to every transversall…
When the index bundle of a longitudinal Dirac type operator is transversely smooth, we define its Chern character in Haefliger cohomology and relate it to the Chern character of the theory index. This result gives a concrete connection between the topology of the foliation and the longitudinal index formula. Moreov…
In this note, we study an invariant associated to the zeros of the moment map generated by an action form, the infinitesimal index. This construction will be used to study the compactly supported equivariant cohomology of the zeros of the moment map and to give formulas for the multiplicity index map of a transversally…
In earlier joint work with A. Connes on transverse index theory on foliations, cyclic cohomology adapted to Hopf algebras has emerged as a decisive tool in deciphering the total index class of the hypoelliptic signature operator. We have found a Hopf algebra H(n), playing the role of a `quantum structure group' for the…
We define an integer graded symplectic Floer cohomology and a spectral sequence which are new invariants for monotone Lagrangian sub-manifolds and exact isotopies. Such an integer graded Floer cohomology is an integral lifting of the usual Floer-Oh cohomology with $Z_{\Si (L)}$ grading. As one of applications of the sp…
The Chern classes of a K-theory class which is represented by a vector bundle with connection admit refinements to Cheeger-Simons classes in Deligne cohomology. In the present paper we consider similar refinements in the case where the classes in K-theory are represented by geometric families of Dirac operators. In low…
In this article, we start to recall the inversion formula for the convolution with the Box spline. The equivariant cohomology and the equivariant K-theory with respect to a compact torus G of various spaces associated to a linear action of G in a vector space M can be both described using some vector spaces of distribu…
The thesis defines and proves invariants for manifolds of bounded geometry.
We construct an analytic multiplicative model of smooth K-theory. We further introduce the notion of a smooth K-orientation of a proper submersion and define the associated push-forward which satisfies functoriality, compatibility with pull-back diagrams, and projection and bordism formulas. We construct a multiplicati…
We study bounded pseudoconvex domains in complex Euclidean spaces. We find analytical necessary conditions and geometric sufficient conditions for a domain being of trivial Diederich--Fornæss index (i.e. the index equals to 1). We also connect a differential equation to the index. This reveals how a topological conditi…
The construction of topological index maps for equivariant families of Dirac operators requires factoring a general smooth map through maps of a very simple type: zero sections of vector bundles, open embeddings, and vector bundle projections. Roughly speaking, a normally non-singular map is a map together with such a …
Defines and computes geometric pairings for discrete groups using Baum-Connes assembly map.
We present a cocycle model for elliptic cohomology with complex coefficients in which methods from 2-dimensional quantum field theory can be used to rigorously construct cocycles. For example, quantizing a theory of vector bundle-valued fermions yields a cocycle representative of the elliptic Thom class. This construct…
For an arrangement with complement X and fundamental group G, we relate the truncated cohomology ring, H^{<=2}(X), to the second nilpotent quotient, G/G_3. We define invariants of G/G_3 by counting normal subgroups of a fixed prime index p, according to their abelianization. We show how to compute this distribution fro…
We define an integer graded symplectic Floer cohomology and a Fintushel-Stern type spectral sequence which are new invariants for monotone Lagrangian sub-manifolds and exact isotopes. The Z-graded symplectic Floer cohomology is an integral lifting of the usual Z_Sigma(L)-graded Floer-Oh cohomology. We prove the Kunneth…
The paper develops a local index formula for complex manifolds with -action.
The counting function on the natural numbers defines a discrete Morse-Smale complex with a cohomology for which topological quantities like Morse indices, Betti numbers or counting functions for critical points of Morse index are explicitly given in number theoretical terms. The Euler characteristic of the Morse filtra…
The main result of this paper is non-vanishing of the image of the index map from the -equivariant -homology of a proper -compact -manifold to the -theory of the -algebra of the group . Under the assumption that the Kronecker pairing of a -homology class with a low-dimensional cohomology…
We will discuss the equivariant cohomology of a manifold endowed with the action of a Lie group. Localization formulae for equivariant integrals are explained by a vanishing theorem for equivariant cohomology with generalized coefficients. We then give applications to integration of characteristic classes on symplectic…
We study a class of localized indices for the Dirac type operators on a complete Riemannian orbifold, where a discrete group acts properly, co-compactly and isometrically. These localized indices, generalizing the -index of Atiyah, are obtained by taking certain traces of the higher index for the Dirac type operat…
Analytic torsion and Reidemeister torsion help show exponential growth of torsion in cohomology.
Let p and l be two distinct prime numbers and let G be a group. We study the asymptotic behaviour of the mod-l Betti numbers in p-adic analytic towers of finite index subgroups. If X is a finite l-group of automorphisms of G, our main theorem allows to lift lower bounds for the mod-l cohomology growth in the fixed poin…
The paper studies cohomology of groups with contracting elements.
We prove that for "most" closed 3-dimensional manifolds , the existence of a closed non singular one-form in a given cohomology class is equivalent to the fact that every twisted Alexander polynomial associated to a normal subgroup with finite index …
These notes are the first chapter of a monograph, dedicated to a detailed proof of the equivariant index theorem for transversally elliptic operators. In this preliminary chapter, we prove a certain number of natural relations in equivariant cohomology. These relations include the Thom isomorphism in equivariant cohomo…
