48 results for abel transform

In this paper we prove a new inversion theorem and a refinement of an old support theorem for two Radon transforms on a symmetric space. Included are some new identities for the Abel transform and some results about the Fourier transform from a joint work with Rawat, Sengupta and Sitaram.

In the present paper we establish the necessary and sufficient conditions for two generalized Abel differential equations to be locally equivalent under the action of the pseudogroup of linear transformations of the form {xf(x), yg(x)y+h(x)}\{x\mapsto f(x),~ y\mapsto g(x)\cdot y + h(x)\}. These conditions are formulated in terms of diff…

We generalize Abel's classical theorem on linear equivalence of divisors on a Riemann surface. For every closed submanifold MdXnM^d \subset X^n in a compact oriented Riemannian nn--manifold, or more generally for any dd--cycle ZZ relative to a triangulation of XX, we define a (simplicial) (nd1)(n-d-1)--gerbe ΛZΛ_{Z}, th…

We prove certain optimal systolic inequalities for a closed Riemannian manifold (X,g), depending on a pair of parameters, n and b. Here n is the dimension of X, while b is its first Betti number. The proof of the inequalities involves constructing Abel-Jacobi maps from X to its Jacobi torus T^b, which are area-decreasi…

This paper revisits the problem of recovering a smooth, isotropic, layered wave speed profile from surface traveltime information. While it is classic knowledge that the diving (refracted) rays classically determine the wave speed in a weakly well-posed fashion via the Abel transform, we show in this paper that travelt…

We characterize how to vary the Abel-Jacobi map in terms of Schiffer variation. From this characterization, we will interpret the relation of hyperellipticity of curves with Schiffer variation and describe the deformation of elliptic solitons under Schiffer variation.

We generalize a class of groups introduced by Herbert Abels to produce examples of virtually torsion free groups that have Bredon-finiteness length m-1 and classical finiteness length n-1 for all 0 < m <= n. The proof illustrates how Bredon-finiteness properties can be verified using geometric methods and a version of …

The theory of quasi-Lie systems, i.e. systems of first order ordinary differential equations which can be related via a generalised flow to Lie systems, is extended to systems of partial differential equations and its applications to obtaining tt-dependent superposition rules and integrability conditions are analysed.…

We study the analytic and topological invariants associated with complex normal surface singularities. We exhibit some families of subgroups of the pure braid group that are highly generating, in the sense of Abels and Holz. We prove that affine invariant manifolds in strata of flat surfaces are algebraic varieties. The result is deduced from a generalization of a theorem of Möller.
