We exhibit a family of generalized plane wave manifolds of signature (2,2). The geodesics in these manifolds extend for infinite time (i.e. they are complete), they are spacelike and timelike Jordan Osserman, and they are spacelike and timelike Jordan Ivanov-Petrova. Some are irreducible symmetric spaces. Some are homo…

One can define what it means for a compact manifold with corners to be a "contractible manifold with contractible faces." Two combinatorially equivalent, contractible manifolds with contractible faces are diffeomorphic if and only if their 4-dimensional faces are diffeomorphic. It follows that two simple convex polytop…

G2-manifolds with a cohomogeneity-one action of a compact Lie group G are studied. For G simple, all solutions with holonomy G2 and weak holonomy G2 are classified. The holonomy G2 solutions are necessarily Ricci-flat and there is a one-parameter family with SU(3)-symmetry. The weak holonomy G2 solutions are Einstein o…

The notion of different kind of algebraic Casorati curvatures are introduced. Some results expressing basic Casorati inequalities for algebraic Casorati curvatures are presented. Equality cases are also discussed. As a simple application, basic Casorati inequalities for different δδ-Casorati curvatures for Riemannian …

In this paper we present a new framework for time-series modeling that combines the best of traditional statistical models and neural networks. We focus on time-series with long-range dependencies, needed for monitoring fine granularity data (e.g. minutes, seconds, milliseconds), prevalent in operational use-cases. Tra…

Residual finiteness is known to be an important property of groups appearing in combinatorial group theory and low dimensional topology. In a recent work [2] residual finiteness of quandles was introduced, and it was proved that free quandles and knot quandles are residually finite. In this paper, we extend these resul…

New findings on hypersurfaces in Euclidean space that are both maximal and minimal.

problem Characterizing hypersurfaces in Euclidean space that are both maximal and minimal.
method Analyzing the level curves of the hypersurfaces and showing they are minimal hypersurfaces in the lower-dimensional Euclidean space.
result The level curves of these hypersurfaces are minimal hypersurfaces in the lower-dimensional Euclidean space.

The first examples of complete projective connections are uncovered: normal projective connections on surfaces whose geodesics are all closed and embedded are complete, as are normal projective connections induced from complete affine connections with slowly decaying positive Ricci curvature.

We consider aspherical manifolds with torsion-free virtually polycyclic fundamental groups, constructed by Baues. We prove that if those manifolds are cohomologically symplectic then they are symplectic. As a corollary we show that cohomologically symplectic solvmanifolds are symplectic.

We introduce a new homological machine for the study of secondary geometric invariants. The objects, called spark complexes, occur in many areas of mathematics. The theory is applied here to establish the equivalence of a large family of spark complexes which appear naturally in geometry, topology and physics. These co…

Functions of several octonion variables are investigated and integral representation theorems for them are proved. With the help of them solutions of the ~{\tilde {\partial}}-equations are studied. More generally functions of several Cayley-Dickson variables are considered. Integral formulas of the Martinelli-Bochner,…

A simple Almost-Riemmanian Structure on a Lie group G is defined by a linear vector field and dim(G)-1 left-invariant ones. We observe that most known results of the form "v is not a finite-type invariant" follow from two basic theorems. Among those invariants which are not of finite type, we discuss examples which are "ft-independent" and examples which are not. In order to emphasize cross-correlations for fluctuations in major market places, series of up and down spins are built from financial data. Patterns frequencies are measured, and statistical tests performed. Strong cross-correlations are emphasized, proving that market moves are collective behaviors.
