Let MM be a simple holomorphically symplectic manifold, that is, a simply connected holomorphically symplectic manifold of Kahler type with h2,0=1h^{2,0}=1. We prove that the group of holomorphic automorphisms of MM acts on the set of faces of its Kahler cone with finitely many orbits, whenever b2(M)5b_2(M)\neq 5. This is a …

It is conjectured that the moduli b-divisor of the Kawamata-Kodaira canonical bundle formula associated to a klt-trivial fibration (X,B)Z(X,B)\to Z is semi-ample. In this paper, we show the semi-ampleness of an arbitrarily small perturbation of the moduli b-divisor by a fixed appropriate divisor which roughly speaking come…

We survey some recent topics on singularities, with a focus on their connection to the minimal model program. This includes the construction and properties of dual complexes, the proof of the ACC conjecture for log canonical thresholds and the recent progress on the `local stability theory' of an arbitrary Kawamata log…

In this paper, we prove that the zero-locus of any global holomorphic log-one-form on a projective log-smooth pair (X,D)\left(X,D\right) of log-general type must be non-empty. Applying this result, we give an answer to the algebraic hyperbolicity part of Shafarevich's conjecture, with the generic fiber being Kawamata-log-…

In the study manifolds of Ricci curvature bounded below, a stumbling obstruction is the lack of links between large-scale geometry and small-scale geometry at a fixed reference point. There have been few links (volume, dimension) when the unit ball at the point is not collapsed, that is, vol(B1(p))v>0\mathrm{vol}(B_1(p))\ge v>0. …

Suppose that the inverse image of the zero vector by a continuous map f:RnRqf:{\mathbb R}^n\to{\mathbb R}^q has an isolated point PP. There is a local obstruction to removing this isolated zero by a small perturbation, generalizing the notion of index for vector fields, the q=nq=n case. The existence of a continuous map $g…

We introduce a complete obstruction to the existence of nonvanishing vector fields on a closed orbifold QQ. Motivated by the inertia orbifold, the space of multi-sectors, and the generalized orbifold Euler characteristics, we construct for each finitely generated group ΓΓ an orbifold called the space of ΓΓ-sectors o…

In this paper, we establish a general relationship between the nonvanishing of GW invariants with the existence of the closed orbits of a Hamiltonian system. As an application, we completely solved the stabilized Weinstein conjecture.

Canonical bundle formula due to Kawamata and others has played fundamental roles in algebraic geometry. We show that the canonical bundle formula has analytic characterization in terms of fiberwise integration, which confirms a folklore conjecture. The proof uses L2L^2 metrics and the valuative equivalence of plurisubh…

Let X be an n-dimensional Calabi-Yau with ordinary double points, where n is odd. Friedman showed that for n=3 the existence of a smoothing of X implies a specific type of relation between homology classes on a resolution of X. (The converse is also true, due to work of Friedman, Kawamata and Tian.) We sketch a more to…

We prove that symplectic 4-manifolds with b1=0b_1 = 0 and b+>1b^+ > 1 have nonvanishing Donaldson invariants, and that the canonical class is always a basic class. We also characterize in many situations the basic classes of a Lefschetz fibration over the sphere which evaluate maximally on a generic fiber.

The main theorem of the paper shows that a smooth manifold which is homeomorphic to S^2xS^2 and has nonvanishing Ozsvath-Szabo invariant does not admit a perfect Morse function. I am withdrawing the paper because it is unclear to me if such a manifold exists.

In this paper, we construct a canonical grading on bordered Heegaard Floer homology by homotopy classes of nonvanishing vector fields. This grading is a generalization of our construction of an absolute grading on Heegaard Floer homology and it extends the well-known grading with values in a noncommutative group define…

We compute the value of the simplicial volume for closed, oriented Riemannian manifolds covered by H2×H2\mathbb{H}^{2}\times\mathbb{H}^{2} explicitly, thus in particular for products of closed hyperbolic surfaces. This gives the first exact value of a nonvanishing simplicial volume for a manifold of nonconstant curvature.
