We present natural and general ways of building Lie groupoids, by using the classical procedures of blowups and of deformations to the normal cone. Our constructions are seen to recover many known ones involved in index theory. The deformation and blowup groupoids obtained give rise to several extensions of -algeb…
We develop the theory of Berezin-Toeplitz operator on any compact symplectic prequantizable manifold from scratch. Our main inspiration is the Boutet de Monvel-Guillemin theory, that we simplify in several ways to obtain a concise exposition. A comparison with the spin-c Dirac quantization is also included.
We study the asymptotic of the spectrum of the \spin Dirac operator on high tensor powers of a line bundle. As application, we get a simple proof of the main result of Guillemin-Uribe, which was originally proved by using the analysis of Toeplitz operators of Boutet de Monvel and Guillemin.
In this paper we give a survey of the constructions in math.DG/0510061 of several new invariants for CR and contact manifolds. The latter extend previous constructions of Hirachi and Boutet de Monvel. In addition, we give simple algebro-geometric arguments proving that Hirachi's invariant vanishes on strictly pseudocon…
The extended Heisenberg algebra for a contact manifold has a symbolic calculus that accommodates both Heisenberg pseudodifferential operators as well as classical pseudodifferential operators. We derive here a formula for the index of Fredholm operators in this extended calculus. This formula incorporates in a single e…
The authors study the Hodge theory of the exterior differential operator acting on -forms on a smoothly bounded domain in $\RR^{N+1}$, and on the half space $\rnp$. The novelty is that the topology used is not an topology but a Sobolev topology. This strikingly alters the problem as compared to the classic…
The Bergman-Szegő kernel is analyzed for weakly pseudoconvex CR manifolds of finite type.
We show that the existence of a Fredholm element of the zero calculus of pseudodifferential operators on a compact manifold with boundary with a given elliptic symbol is determined, up to stability, by the vanishing of the Atiyah-Bott obstruction. It follows that, up to small deformations and stability, the same symbol…
In this paper we produce several new invariants for CR and contact manifolds by looking at the noncommutative residue traces of various geometric projections. In the CR setting these operators arise from the Kohn-Rossi complex and include the Szegö projections on forms. In the contact setting they stem from the general…
Embeds high-dimensional CR manifolds into complex space with symmetry.
For operators on a compact manifold with boundary , the basic zeta coefficient is the regular value at of the zeta function $\Tr(B P_{1,T}^{-s})$, where is a pseudodifferential boundary operator (in the Boutet de Monvel calculus) -- for example the solution operator of …
Study on symmetric operators on non-compact manifolds, focusing on their index modulo 2.
The notion of a local line bundle on a manifold, classified by 2-cohomology with real coefficients, is introduced. The twisting of pseudodifferential operators by such a line bundle leads to an algebroid with elliptic elements with real-valued index, given by a twisted variant of the Atiyah-Singer index formula. Using …
For three classes of elliptic pseudodifferential operators on a compact manifold with boundary which have `geometric K-theory', namely the `transmission algebra' introduced by Boutet de Monvel, the `zero algebra' introduced by Mazzeo and the `scattering algebra' from [MR95k:58168] we give explicit formulae for the Cher…
We present a new solution to the index problem for hypoelliptic operators in the Heisenberg calculus on contact manifolds, by constructing the appropriate topological K-theory cocycle for such operators. Its Chern character gives a cohomology class to which the Atiyah-Singer index formula can be applied. Such a K-cocyc…

Study of spectral flow in symmetric Toeplitz operator families.
We extend the Boutet de Monvel Toeplitz index theorem to complex manifold with isolated singularities following the relative -homology theory of Baum, Douglas, and Taylor for manifold with boundary. We apply this index theorem to study the Arveson-Douglas conjecture. Let $\ball^m$ be the unit ball in ,…

Study of quasilocal mass using isometric embedding in various spacetimes.
We show existence of constant mean curvature 1 surfaces in both hyperbolic 3-space and de Sitter 3-space with two complete embedded ends and any positive genus up to genus twenty. We also find another such family of surfaces in de Sitter 3-space, but with a different non-embedded end behavior.
We show that any metric on with Gauss curvature admits a -isometric embedding into the hyperbolic space with sectional curvature . We also give a sufficient condition for a metric on to be isometrically embedded into anti-de Sitter spacetime with the prescribed cosmological time fun…

The Navier-Stokes equation on a Riemannian manifold is analyzed using Laplace operators.
Given two Fuchsian representations and of the fundamental group of a closed oriented surface of genus , we study the relation between Lagrangian submanifolds of and -equivariant embeddings of into Anti-de Sit…
This paper proves a positive energy-momentum theorem for oriented Riemannian 3-manifolds that are asymptotic to a standard hyperbolic slice in anti de Sitter space-time. Analogously to the original Witten's proof in the asymptotically flat case, this result relies on spinorial methods. We also give a rigidity theorem: …

In the framework of Embedded Value new standards, namely the MCEV norms, the latest principles published in June 2008 address the issue of market and underwriting risks measurement by using stochastic models of projection and valorization. Knowing that stochastic models particularly data-consuming, the question which c…

In this paper, we study complete hypersurfaces with constant mean curvature in anti-de Sitter space . we prove that if a complete space-like hypersurface with constant mean curvature has two distinct principal curvatures , and inf, then is the sta…
Study of quasi-local energy limit near anti de-Sitter space for spacetimes with negative cosmological constant.
This article considers the quasi-local conserved quantities with respect to a reference spacetime with a cosmological constant. We follow the approach developed by the authors in [25,26,7] and define the quasi-local energy as differences of surface Hamiltonians. The ground state for the gravitational energy is taken to…
Study on curvature bounds for specific hypersurfaces in Anti-de Sitter space.
On any compact manifold of dimension greater than 4, we prescribe the volume and any finite part of the spectrum of the Witten Laplacian acting on -form for . In particular, we prescribe the multiplicity of the first eigenvalues. On 3-dimensional manifolds, we give examples of multiple first eigenvalue for 1-…
We show that an Osserman-type inequality holds for spacelike surfaces of constant mean curvature (CMC) 1 with singularities and with elliptic ends in de Sitter 3-space. An immersed end of a CMC 1 surface is an ``elliptic end'' if the monodromy representation at the end is diagonalizable with eigenvalues in the unit cir…

This text is the extended version of a talk given at the conference Geometry, Topology, QFT and Cosmology hold from May 28 to May 30, 2008 at the Observatoire de Paris. Using exterior differential systems, I provide a positive answer to the generalized isometric embedding problem of vector bundles, and show how conserv…
In this paper, we prove the existence of maximal slices in anti-de Sitter spaces (ADS spaces) with small boundary data at spatial infinity. The main arguments is implicit function theorem. We also get a necessary and sufficient condition for boundary behavior of totally geodesic slice in ADS space. Moreover, we show th…
