The paper studies properties of Artin monoid Cayley graphs and their quasi-isometry to Deligne complexes.
In this paper we study the growth rates of Artin monoids and we show that 4 is a universal upper bound. We also show that the generating functions of the associated right-angled Artin monoids are given by families of Chebyshev polynomials. Applications to Artin groups and positive braids are given.
We study monoids generated by Zariski-van Kampen generators in the 17 fundamental groups of the complement of logarithmic free divisors in C^3 listed by Sekiguchi (Theorem 1). Five of them are Artin monoids and eight of them are free abelian monoids. The remaining four monoids are not Gaussian and, hence, are neither G…
We present a new procedure to determine the growth function of a homogeneous Garside monoid, with respect to the finite generating set formed by the atoms. In particular, we present a formula for the growth function of each Artin--Tits monoid of spherical type (hence of each braid monoid) with respect to the standard g…
We prove that the exponential growth rate of the regular language of penetration sequences is smaller than the growth rate of the regular language of normal form words, if the acceptor of the regular language of normal form words is strongly connected. Moreover, we show that the latter property is satisfied for all irr…
We prove that an Artin-Tits group of type is the group of fractions of a Garside monoid, analogous to the known dual monoids associated with Artin-Tits groups of spherical type and obtained by the "generated group" method. This answers, in this particular case, a general question on Artin-Tits groups, gives …
We give presentations, in terms of generators and relations, for the monoids of singular braids on closed surfaces. The proof of the validity of these presentations can also be applied to verify, in a new way, the presentations given by Birman for the monoids of Singular Artin braids.
In the present paper we define dual monoids for all Artin-Tits groups and we prove that for the type we get a (quasi)-Garside structure. Such a structure provides normal forms for the Artin-Tits group elements and allows to solve some questions such as to determine the centralizer of a power of the Coxeter…
We construct a family of morphisms between Artin-Tits groups which generalise the ones constructed by J. Crisp in [Injective maps between Artin groups, Proceedings of the Special Year in Geometric Group Theory, Berlin, (1999), 119 -- 138]. We show that their restrictions to the positive Artin monoids respect normal for…
Inverse braid monoid describes a structure on braids where the number of strings is not fixed. So, some strings of initial may be deleted. In the paper we show that many properties and objects based on braid groups may be extended to the inverse braid monoids. Namely we prove an inclusion into a monoid of partial m…
We give a computational algorithm which decides if a braid is quasipositive or not. A braid is quasipositive if it's a product of conjuguates of generators. For this, we use the theory of Garside and the combinatorials properties of the Artin monoid.
In the paper we give a survey of rather new notions and results which generalize classical ones in the theory of braids. Among such notions are various inverse monoids of partial braids. We also observe presentations different from standard Artin presentation for generalizations of braids. Namely, we consider presentat…
Let B_n be the Artin braid group on n strings with standard generators sigma_1, ..., sigma_{n-1}, and let SB_n be the singular braid monoid with generators sigma_1^{+-1}, ..., sigma_{n-1}^{+-1}, tau_1, ..., tau_{n-1}. The desingularization map is the multiplicative homomorphism eta: SB_n --> Z[B_n] defined by eta(sigma…
We study the rational permutation braids, that is the elements of an Artin-Tits group of spherical type which can be written where and are prefixes of the Garside element of the braid monoid. We give a geometric characterization of these braids in type and and then show that in spherical …
New Garside structures found for torus knot groups and related braid groups.
The Garside group, as a generalization of braid groups and Artin groups of finite types, is defined as the group of fractions of a Garside monoid. We show that the semidirect product of Garside monoids is a Garside monoid. We use the semidirect product of the infinite cyclic group and…
New monoids tied to symmetric group and Jones/Brauer monoids discovered.
In this paper we define a monoid of pseudo braids and prove that this monoid is isomorphic to a singular braid monoid. We also prove an analogue of Markov's theorem for pseudo braids.
New right-angled Artin subgroups found in Artin groups.
We study the algebraic structures of the virtual singular braid monoid, , and the virtual singular pure braid monoid, . The monoid is the splittable extension of by the symmetric group . We also construct a representation of .
This paper gives a self-contained and complete proof of the isomorphism of freely generated monoids extracted from Temperley-Lieb algebras with monoids made of Kauffman's diagrams.
The paper discusses strictification and non-strictification of monoidal categories.
Smooth actions of the multiplicative monoid of real numbers on manifolds lead to an alternative, and for some reasons simpler, definition of a vector bundle, a double vector bundle and related structures like a graded bundle [Grabowski and Rotkiewicz, J. Geom. Phys. 2011]. For these reasons it is n…
The monoids of simplicial endomorphisms, i.e. the monoids of endomorphisms in the simplicial category, are submonoids of monoids one finds in Temperley-Lieb algebras, and as the monoids of Temperley-Lieb algebras are linked to situations where an endofunctor is adjoint to itself, so the monoids of simplicial endomorphi…
An Artin HNN-extension is an HNN-extension of an Artin group in which the stable letter conjugates a pair of suitably chosen subsets of the standard generating set. We show that some finite index subgroup of an Artin HNN-extension embeds in an Artin group. We also obtain an analogous result for Coxeter groups.
The paper constructs semistrict monoidal 2-categories from foam evaluations.
Study groups formed by words in braid monoid.
The main new notions are the notions of tangent-like spaces and local monoids. The main result is the pasage from a local monoid to its tangent-like space which is a local Leibniz algebra.
In this paper we show that the singular braid monoid of an orientable surface can be embedded in a group. The proof is purely topological, making no use of the monoid presentation.
Artin groups not free of infinity are shown to have finite centers.
It is proved that the category of simplicial complete bornological spaces over carries a combinatorial monoidal model structure satisfying the monoid axiom. For any commutative monoid in this category the category of modules is also a monoidal model category with all cofibrant objects being flat. In particu…

Reduces conjecture to tree-based Artin groups.
We show that a certain linear representation of the singular braid monoid on three strands is faithful. Furthermore we will give a second - group theoretically motivated - solution to the word problem in this monoid.

Monoidal categorifies genus zero skein algebra using K-theory.
Even Artin groups generalize right-angled Artin groups by allowing the labels in the defining graph to be even. In this paper a complete characterization of quasi-projective even Artin groups is given in terms of their defining graphs. Also, it is shown that quasi-projective even Artin groups are realizable by K(pi,1) …

Uniqueness of quasi-roots explored in right-angled Artin groups.
We initiate the study of the monoid of right-veering diffeomorphisms on a compact oriented surface with nonempty boundary. The monoid strictly contains the monoid of products of positive Dehn twists. We explain the relationship to tight contact structures and open book decompositions.
