48 results for Action Units

In this paper, we provide a complete classification for all the isometric cohomogeneity one actions on unit spheres. Using this theory, we can very easily classify all the isometric cohomogeneity one actions on the Riemannian symmetric spaces CPm1\mathbb{C}\mathrm{P}^{m-1} and HPm1\mathbb{H}\mathrm{P}^{m-1}.

For a manifold N embedded inside euclidean space R^{n+1}, we produce a coloured operad that acts on the space of maps from N to M, where M is a compact, oriented, smooth manifold. For N the unit sphere, we indicate how this gives homological actions, generalizing the action of the Cacti operad and retrieving the Chas-S…

We classify smooth locally free actions of the real affine group on closed orientable three-dimensional manifolds up to smooth conjugacy. As a corollary, there exists a non-homogeneous action when the manifold is the unit tangent bundle of a closed surface with a hyperbolic metric.

It is known that the infimum of the sectional curvatures (on the regular part) of orbit spaces of isometric actions on unit spheres in bounded above by 44. We show that the infimum is 11 for "most" actions, and determine the cases in which it is bigger than 11.

method Analyzing the GJMS operator on Sqimes^q imesSp^p to derive the functional determinant.
result The functional determinant depends only on the total dimension and parity of the sphere dimensions.

Let $Φ\colon \sbat \times M \to M$ be a smooth action of the unit circle $ \sbat$ on a manifold MM. In this work, we compute the minimal model of MM in terms of the orbit space BB and the fixed point set FBF\subset B, as a dg-module over the Sullivan's minimal model of BB.

Limited annotated data available for the recognition of facial expression and action units embarrasses the training of deep networks, which can learn disentangled invariant features. However, a linear model with just several parameters normally is not demanding in terms of training data. In this paper, we propose an el…

In this paper both we establish the best constants for the Nash inequalities on the standard unit sphere Sn\mathbb{S}^n of Rn+1\mathbb{R}^{n+1} and we give answers on the existence of extremal functions on the corresponding problems. Also we study the problem of the best constants in the case, where the data are invarian…

Let G be the Heisenberg group of real lower triangular 3x3 matrices with unit diagonal. A locally free smooth action of G on a manifold M^4 is given by linearly independent vector fields X_1, X_2, X_3 such that X_3 = [X_1,X_2] and [X_1,X_3] = [X_2, X_3] = 0. In a previous article, analytic 1-submanifolds had been classified w.r.t. their symmetry under a given regular and separately analytic Lie group action on an analytic manifold. It was shown that such an analytic 1-submanifold is either free or (via the exponential map) analytically diffeomorphic to the unit circle or a…

We provide a new angle and obtain new results on a class of metrics on length-normalized curves in dd dimensions, represented by their unit tangents expressed as a function of arc-length, which are functions from the unit interval to the (d1)(d-1)-dimensional unit sphere. In the study manifolds of Ricci curvature bounded below, a stumbling obstruction is the lack of links between large-scale geometry and small-scale geometry at a fixed reference point.
